What power system do you use?
I'm getting back into the sport after a bit of a break and am starting from scratch on building up my gear. One of the items I want to invest is a newer power system and I have no clue on what is out there now. I had an Ergomo back in my day (don't beat me up) and obviously need to dump it.

What are the popular systems nowadays? What would be some good resources to get me started on my research?

Thanks in advance!

I use the Garmin Vector. I think it is a pretty good system but you have to be very careful with installation and calibration. Even so I find that it tends to report about 2-3% low vs .my Computrainer but it is fairly consistent once properly set up. The install torque seems to be critical.

Just had the Stages crank installed today and am curious to see how it works.

Was previously using a Powetap but have opted to try a crank based system so that I can switch out my Flo 90 and Disc.

I'd be interested in your findings around the Stages system. Power in the crank is where I am leaning. Especially if its easy to swap between bikes.

From the threads and info from Eurobike, it seems Powertap has a few things in the works, so I'd hold on. I absolutely LOVE the company....they are responsive and exceptional quality. Do a forum search and you'll see many kudos...

It's a growing market, so there are likely some additional options (in model, if not brand), but here is a good review.

Keep in mind that there are pluses and minuses to each depending on you current equipment, intended use, and price range.

I'll look into Powertap, as well. I have been keeping updated with what is going on at Eurobike. Lots of goodies.

Yea, they're playing it close to the vest right now, so it will be interesting to see what happens. I must say that I have had 4 units, currently 2, and have always had exceptional durability and accuracy and the VERY few times I needed service or help (operator error), they could not have been better. Plus mostly US made (right in Madison, WI) if it matters to you.
