I don't know how ridiculous it is, but for me it would probably be bikram yoga. I have done ears of serious weight training, including powerlifting, and my back has never been as sore as after my first few sessions. it just worked my back muscle in a way that they weren't used to. muscle sore, so good. after that, I was hooked.

LOL, I did that the day before Clearwater in 2010. Stupidest thing I have ever done before a race.

Almost had a stupidest thing ever last year before IMLP, went to a "water hole" and decided to jump off the rocks into the water. With less than 24 hours til race start.

Whirlyball. When I lived in Naperville this was place was kind of over by Oakbrook. A bunch of us, at the time, twenty-somethings got together to play this game. Think basketball in bumper cars. It is like being in a bunch of low speed car crashes. Bruises from the lap belt but everything hurt the next day. Both wife and I played and we vividly remember the pain. It was fun while we were doing it.

Threw my back out once at work by simpliy sitting down at my desk and reaching out to turn my computer on, suddenly felt excrutiating pain as I was hunched across my desk and unable to straighten up. Managed to shuffle Igor-style ("walk this way!") to the elevator and down to the lobby to take a cab to the hospital to get checked out; realized I wasn't so bad off while going through the ER entrance as a team of EMTs was rushing in a stabbing victim who had the handle of a large knife sticking out of their chest.

Walking down the stairs in my house I fell and folded my foot underneath me. The pain was unbelievable. It was a severe strain, not a break, but took quite a while to recover from.

Was running a trail race and on the flattest, smoothest part found the one little rock sticking up and crashed hard on my left side. Cracked a rib and had a bruise on the upper arm as big as a baseball. Was out for 6 weeks before I could do a real workout and back to normal.

Spent this weekend packing my house and can barely stand up straight. Even my hands are sore.

Painted my living room by myself. I had to move all the furniture away from the walls. Between that and using the roller I was very sore for a couple days. My back and shoulders were useless.

Took yoga once, strained by back so badly I've never done it again. I was training for IM at the time and couldn't get down in aero on my bike for 2 weeks. Lesson learned.

Working in the yard is always a good one.

Getting run over by one of these while on a training ride. Pain had, and still has, it's new definition.

Went out for some beers with friends a few hours after running a half M on the treadmill. Apparently I wanted to log more time on the feet, so at around 230am I took off on the 10km loop I do occasionally near my friends house. Apparenty dress shoes are not good for a 10km effort. I have never been that sore in my life, stride was completely messed due to the awkward shoes and alcohol. Had to take 5 days off of running and nurse the calves / achillies. But at least I had a decent time.

Last year I received a dry-fit race shirt with a decal ironed on the front from a race I did.

Hadn't really worn it before except around the house. Through it on under my long sleeve cycling jersey yesterday and went for a two hour ride, followed by a short run.

Last night when the hot shower water hit my, well, not easy way to say it, nips, I thought I'd pass out. I'm still sore, I mean really sore as hell this afternoon and am dreading my run tonight.

Shirts in the trash..............

Tough Mudder race this past weekend. OK, it is not surprising that I am incredible sore, the ridiculous thing is that I did it at all.

Seemed like it was miles of running on rocks. People going down left and right with twisted ankles. Walking with logs. Climbing walls. Swimming in ice water. Crawling through tunnels and through rocks and mud. My entire forearms and knees are completely black and blue. Who knows when I will get back into the aero position. And I am not going to even bring up the pain in my elbows and calves from where I got electrocuted.

Who came up with these stupid races... better question, why did I do it?????

3 years ago I was riding with my friend Phil T and we came to a narrow side walk/walking bridge that we had to cross on our bikes. Instead of getting off and walking our bikes across we rode across and I hit a small curb, my bike stopped instantly, and I went head first over my handlebars. I could not have looked any stupider, or so I thought.

2 years ago I was riding with my friend Phil T and we came to the exact same spot and I said to Phil T "remember that incredibly stupid wreck I had at this spot last year" and seconds later I hit the same curb. This time my entire bike went ass end over and dumped me face first onto the cement side walk. I hit the side walk very hard, was sore for a long time, destroyed one of my bar end shifters, and looked like a frigging idiot. Lucky that I didn't break any teeth.

Thats nothing. On 1st run with new shorts, felt a bit uncomfortable "down there". Turns out the cheap fabric was rubbing right on the tip, shall we say. Hurt to pee for 2 weeks. Now everthing gets bodyglide before a run.
My plan? To start off easy, and then back off.

I broke 2 ribs while trying to vault over a big wooden rocking horse my son had, while trying to rush through the living room to go to the toilet.

I not only broke the ribs, I also winded myself too. I got the the toilet, busting for a whizz and tried the old, bend over repeately to get rid of the winding. With the ribs it was almost impossible, and at the same time trying not to pee all over myself, and still get it in the toilet. My wife just about died laughing, all the while calling the kids so they could see just how retarded their father was! (and that barely makes it into the top 10 most stupid things I've ever done!)

The entire family still laughs when it gets brought up in conversation.

I missed about 8 weeks of running thanks to that crash!

well of course there are the foot cramps, calf cramps and leg cramps while doing the wild thing, but (true story), I pinged my neck after 45 minutes of 69, years ago. I was a ski instructor at the time, and I had to tell my boss and students that I'd had a car crash to explain the complete inability to move my neck in any direction! Maaaaaaan that was a fantastic night! Thanks for jogging my memory :-)

You just need to train more.

Years ago some friends and I were training for a 2 week backpacking trip. A few days before we left, we were at the beach screwing around and he decided to kick a tiny little rock sitting on the sand....except the rock extended another 2' down and he snapped his big toe. I'm talking angles that no human body part should ever experience.

Yeah, I dunno....there are so many to choose from.

I grew up water skiing just about every weekend and something told me that at the age of 35 I would still be able to slalom and not be crippled. Not so much.
Yard work is always a winner and falling down our stairs once or twice left a mark.

The funniest one was when I was first year on the job as a school nurse and someone radio'd to me saying a parent had facial swelling and they were all about 0.3 miles away across the street at a celebration, so I had to RUN down a hill (which I did NOT fall down) and across the street, down another grass hill to the parent. I leapt with my right foot and missed the sidewalk and face planted in the middle of the road. Totally wrecked my hands, both patellar tendons were bruised and I got up and ran to the lady, who had the damn nerve to refuse EMS (we called them as I left the school). I wanted to choke her, then the nice paramedics offered to transport me.

I hobbled back up to the school laughing and crying because I was bloody and sore as hell. I iced up my knees, cleaned up my hands and waited for my husband to show up and just shake his head at me and tell me to get in the car.

Not my most graceful moment.

I put down 8 full pallets of sod for my then girlfriend. It was raining the entire day so the sod rolls were soaking wet and heavier then normal. Took me 12 hours to finish.

I was sore for weeks. My hands didn't work for days and my forearms were toast. Tried to ride a few days later and could not even grab the bars safely so called it.

For my efforts she married me....worth the effort and the pain!

I actually have quite a few of these.

One of the worst was a day between sales meetings in southern California one year. Did a long 80 mile ride early in the morning to avoid the heat, and then hung out by the pool playing cornhole all day...literally, all day. I think we played 8 hours. The next day neither I or one of my co workers could walk. Calf muscle complete cramped up, would not move. I think it was sore for a little over 2 weeks.

My cousin fell while brushing his teeth and broke his arm.....hard to top that one.

Wii is the devil. I don't own one, but every single time I have played one I have ended up with some sort of pulled muscle. Worst toy ever.
