I go up tunnel all the time too! Just getting there safely feels like training sometimes, let alone the rest of the ride.

For cyclist in some states it is pefectly legal to do a rolling stop or proceed without stopping if there are no cars coming.

I've decided to go up Tunnel this afternoon, and I may blow those stop signs just in solidarity.

It's weird but everytime I think of getting a GoPro or similar device I keep thinking that I could be recording my own death, and is that something I'd want my family to see?

This is true in Missouri. We do not have to come to a complete stop if it is clear that there are not any other vehicles coming. Not saying it is in good measure to do this just because the law says we can, but not all states have the same laws.

Yes, but California isn't one of them - it's also a $125 fine. Has nothing to do with the hit and run though.

The fine depends on where you live? It's 300 something in Santa Clara county.

Any stats from anyone as to which type of collision is more likely from the rear or from the front/side? I might start mounting my gopro for my rides but not sure which way to point it.

To avoid city traffic I ride in the suburbs but that makes it red neck territory and it has its own negatives. I ride solo and I've already had the ocassional a-hole yelling or revving up the engine right when passing by me.
I guess until those a-holes don't get in serious police trouble or a hefty fine they'll keep thinking that harrassing bike riders is good fun.
I'm also debating regarding the camera mount, forward or rear facing. I've found no consensus or statistics that would favor one or the other. Guess the safe bet would be to mount two cameras.

Not me but there are two other SWoo's that ride bikes in the general vicinity and grew up here.

Shocking seeing that.

hit and run they should get 30 days Jail and the car crushed.

The police everywhere need to be harder on people that break laws.
