Need a quick confirmation here. Currently running a 2012 Cervelo p2 (Ultegra 6700- 10 speed) and am about to buy a 165mm crankset (Ultegra 6800- 11 speed).
From what I'm seeing this should be plug and play. Am I missing anything or am I all good?
Appreciate the help!
It was plug and play on my 2013 Giant TCR Advanced.
Should be all good. They both take the same bottom bracket and are the same size.
You are good to go. You can run a 10sp chain on the "11 speed" crank. The chain links inner dimensions are identical on 10 and 11 speed chains. That's what the chainrings see. The outer chain dimensions are different; in other words the 11 speed chain link material is thinner.
The spacing between the small and big 6800 rings might be narrower, on account of a thinner chain. Some say it is some say it isn't. My calipers don't show any difference between 6700 and 6800 spacing so if it is different it's a very small difference and doesn't affect shifting.
The BB is of course identical.
At some point you can buy 11 sp cassette, rear derailleur, shifter, and chain, to convert to 11 speed.
