Triclosan could lead to low-T
Triclosan is a common ingredient in antibacterial soap and toothpaste. Should men avoid it? Anyone have more knowledge of this?

Sounds interesting. But you should have stopped buying products with Triclosan in it years ago. It is HORRIBLE for the environment, and that's putting it lightly. triclosan's not going to kill you, but there's really no need to have it around and a handful of good reasons to not have it around. so i say avoid it.

Definitely. Having some germs in your system actually boost your immune system. plus, Anti-bacterials like Triclosan I'm sure had a role in creating some of those skin-eating infections that are resistant to medications.

Ban doesn't actually go into effect until Sept of this year. But yeah - it's going the way of the dodo.

yep, antibiotic resistance is definitely a real concern - i'm involved in some research on that, i really do think it's going to be a massive problem in the future. (though i hope i'm wrong.)

i was also just struck by the fact that antibacterial soaps don't really seem much more effective than regular soap. why not just save your money and use something without the dodgy additives?

and then lastly, yes - just philosophically i prefer to use antimicrobials in a pretty targeted way rather than adding them to everything!
