Triathlons near Saratoga Springs, NY
Hey All,

My parents just moved to Saratoga Springs. They live right in town. I see there is a sprint distance right in town. I was wondering if any of you could give some insight into that race and any other that might be w/in a 30 minute drive of there.

Thanks

Well, I grew up about 15 min outside of town (in Galway/Middle Grove) and 30 minutes doesn't get you very far in that part of the state so you're gonna need to do a bit more driving.

The main ones I'm familiar with are obviously Tupper Lake tri, http://www.lgtrifestival.com/, http://speculatorchamber.com/...iseco-Lake-Triathlon, http://www.cdymca.org/...neBushTriathlon.aspx

if you got any other questions about the area in general feel free to ask

Congratulations on getting to spend time in the best town on earth. I've been living here for 6 years now and there is no place I would rather be for summertime tri training. Check out the Saratoga Duathlon, Lake George Triathlon Festival, Hudson Crossing Triathlon, and Fronhofer Tool Triathlon. Send a PM if you have any other questions about the area.

Not sure about Tri's, but I know you'll be better at all of them AFTER you do Battenkill in April. A classic. Which you can sleep in and still get the start. Lucky you.

Crap, what is the name of the lake GCG use to ride to? Lake Desolation? From Clifton Park to there and back. A bit of traffic, but a good ride.

No better weekend than the Lake George Tri weekend!! Oly and Half!!

It's Lake Desolation (cue sheet from Saratoga, http://home.roadrunner.com/~bcurtiss/desperationtodesolation.htm). Coincidentally, I live at the base of the road and spent my childhood watching riders go by on the weekends before I started riding it myself. One of the bigger climbs in the area along with Antioch road and Corinth mountain road.
