Nice race Chris. Unfortunately I flatted at around the 55km mark. I got a slow wheel change, and the support vehicle tried to pace me back, but he didn't seem to know how to do it.
I remember covering a couple of your attacks just before I flatted - it would have been nice to battle it out with you guys in the end.
Riding solo for 45km sucked to say the least.

Have to say that race and venue is everything it's billed to be. Simply awesome and I hope to be back next year.
Btw, yoda was spot on about time prediction of 2:45-- to the minute.
Wright road was the worst I have seen any dirt section in this race ever, in terms of just being like sand. I saw several guys basically pull off to the side because they were almost losing it on the downhill sections here.. I powered through it, but was seriously worried I might lay it down. I guess CX racing experience has some value;)
kdw and murphyslaw took 1-2 in one of the cat 5 fields. Great day to be out on a ride.

A great day for my first crack at road racing. Was charity ride easy for 40 miles...at a couple of points we were doing ~16 mph waiting for someone to pull through. Only kalber seemed to have any inclination to go for a flyer and he took a couple of cracks. Our selection happened on Wrights rd. Unfortunately, ML got caught back a bit and had to bridge up to 3 of us on the break. He used a lot of matches doing that. By the top of Meetinghouse it was ML and I. By stage rd there was nobody in sight, and I managed to get 20 secs on ML up stage rd ftw.

Yeah, Wright was where the final selection happened in ours. A few hairy spots that you had to hit at full gas. Like Harry Hogge said, "loose is fast and on the verge of outta control." That was fun.

I wanted to slow down on wright's but I was more afraid of hitting the brakes then I was of going faster. At least it was a straightaway.
Nice job out there.

My first road race as well. I wish that was my group. My group pushed the pace from the start and started attacking at 10miles in. The climb toward the end was surprisingly easy. I almost ran through a guy on one of the downhill dirt sections. He kept drifting left and I cleared him by inches.

My friend who was doing his first road race ever was in your group. He had no problems till the selection happened, then dropped 30 min in the last 20 miles.

“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.” John Rogers

I was in that field as well. Was at the front whole race up until mile 50-51 then my legs said "I'm done". Crawled in from there.

"where'd they go?....where'd who goooooo??"
I was honestly hating life for the last 14 miles (during which I lost 15 minutes)...ouch. looking at my power file explains a lot about why i was hating life so much. awesome day though.

ZP. Good to hear from you. I got left behind early when the chain dropped on a gear change up one of the first ascents but it was a great day. You in for AZ this year?

That's when you take a page from Jens and say "shut up legs!"

The New Specialized Wind Tunnel
Will this be a game changer for Specialized, in both sales and product design, or will it not move the sales and design needle versus those in Specialized's competitive set?
