Tour de France Stage 3 Thread - The Mur awaits! (Spoilers)
Nuthin' muhc so far, but the proverbial "sting in the tail awaits".

Valverde is a good pick for today. Dan Martin is supposedly targetting the stage, but I don't know if he has the explosiveness for the Mur....unless he gets away earlier.

I see Nibali attacking today to exact revenge for yesterday. He is probably a little more explosive in the one-day style races than the other big guns. Valverde is a good pick. I could see Kwiatkowski as well but he put in a lot of work yesterday.

Exsactly what I was thinking. If any of the riders who crashed ends up winning, there will be a lot of questions as to why they decided to hold up everything.

How do you say clusterfuck in French?
What I love hate about this GT stuff. Subjective. Is this a sign of respect for FC in yellow? If so I'm good with it but if I had busted my nuts to get up front, I'd be saying sacre bleu and shit......
Nasty pile up.

huh? this has nothing to do with medical. they stopped the race to let people who crashed rejoin.

ETA: Or maybe it did. They are now saying that they may have stopped the race because the medical guys were busy working the first crash and couldn't get to the second crash.

That was a lot of big names going down, gerrans, cancallara, greipel, van summeren, demoulin (butchered the spelling), and several other riders who are important to their respective teams. It appears too like ettix started to hammer right after the crash and they were trying to neutralize them from using the crash to their advantage.

Edit: that was a really hard crash, everybody who went down looks really beat up with 3 abandons right now.

I understand. Favorites crashing out happens and it benefits the guys lucky enough to stay up. Racing.
But I think this will be explained as having to bring race resources to the crashes and so needed to slow the race. Or something like that.

Just line them up and TT up the Mur.

Major bummer about Dumoulin.

Wonder how hard the second crash was? The first one looked quite nasty.

i think they were referring to the crashes that occured in the one crash - you had the "right" side of the peleton and then the left side after all the bikes, etc, piled up against the post.

Well, they've said more than once that there was a second crash further up which delayed the medical team.

Well, they said there was a second crash further up.

Consider your source - Phil & Paul. They are idiots....

Agreed with Kathy - the second crash, IMO, was the one on the other side fo the road. There were never any scenes from the supposed "second' crash.

Guess if the medical team was tied up treating all the riders from the 2 crashes then there was a health and safety with carrying on racing. E.g. if there was another bad crash and the medical team couldn't respond

Yearly rant: there's a lot of good racing going on but NBC feels it's important to run the same 3 commercials over and over and over. Crowie drinks chocolate milk. We get it. Thank goodness for the euro feed. NBC IS UNWATCHABLE.

1) Watch it on the NBC Sports app. No commercials whatsoever.

2) DVR it, start it about an hour late and just FF through the commercials.

The reality is that ANY sporting event that lasts as long as le Tour (both daily and total even length) is going to suffer from an extreme repeat of commercials. YOu saw the same set of commercials time after time in the Womens World Cup, you'll see it now in Wimbledon, you see it in golf coverage and even the NFL (Cialis, anyone?)

I'm just following live text feed and the last I saw was it was a Contador-Froome duel up the Mur from which Rodriguez attacked? No word of contador being dropped, just that Froome came 2nd. How far back did he finish?

Don't forget to unclip!
