Re: Timerman - Accomodation [MTL]

I raced last year, and you really don't need to stay all that close to the venue. I actually stayed in Jackson, NH, 1 1/2 hrs away - dropped off the bike on the way up, then got up pretty early on race morning. That said, if you have a pack of folks cheering you it is probably more convenient to stay nearby. I have no clue if places in the area still have availability.

I've stayed in Tilton NH before, it was a little bit of a drive but not too bad.

Another option is to stay somewhere on the other end of Rt 11 (Alton Bay area) as the traffic jam on race morning to the race site is usually coming the other way from Laconia

Rochester and Dover are also a quick shot down 11 and 16 from gilford. Dover has more options though Rochester is a touch closer

When I did it a couple of years ago, originally I couldn't get anything close. Booked something a little farther away that was cancellable and then kept checking. A number of people cancel within the week before I was able to pick up something walking distance to transition about 4 days before the race (and at that point they had waived the 3 day minimum)
