Time for a good ol ST Smackdown!!
Saturday night at Dartmouth - PRIME TIME

in the blue corner wighing in at 350 lbs. JasoninHalifax

in the red corner, weighing in at 3 ticks less than a gnat's tooth - Zenmaster28

in the 50m fly - we're both entered at 28.50 seed times, we should be in lanes 2 and 4. (TBD which is which, but it doesn't matter in this pool.)

Who's gonna win?

Think I'm a smug asshole? Then cast your lot in with Team Zenmaster. Think Zenmaster smells funny? then go with Team inHalifax. There is no reason too petty to vote against one of us.

Winner gets bragging rights for at least the next year. (longer if I win.)

Seems like odd lane assignments if you've got the same seed times, unless there are several others with the same seed times in lanes 3, 5 and 6.

Doesn't seeding usually go 4-5-3-6-2 and so on.... There are other seed orders of course, like championship/circle seeding, but again that wouldn't ordinarily put two swimmers with identical times in lanes 2 and 4 of the same heat.

Am I missing something?

Either way, good luck to you both.

6 lane pool. top seed is in lane 3, we're seeded 2 and 3, so lanes 4 and 2

You are missing the guy in lane 3 that is going to beat us both by at least a body length. :)

Ah, that makes sense. Must be a Canadian thing ... 6 lane pools. I'm not sure I've ever raced in one apart from summer league as a kid 30+ years ago. Ever since it's always been 8 lane or occasionally 10 lane pools.

It's the exchange rate.

It's also an American thing - or at least California. I swam in plenty of 4 and 6 lane pools.
My college pool was 6 lanes SCY and too narrow of lanes for timing pads from 1965 to 2000.

Eight lane pool, but two lanes will still be iced over until May

Everything in Canada seems 75% the awesomeoness of the USA.

Good luck to both of you. Will there be video to dissect?

Good luck and have fun!

For the record, ST, right now, is NOT in need of a smackdown.

I know a guy who knows a guy who does maintenance at that pool. We can make anyone win. Just let me know which lane you want to win and we'll tweak the filtration system accordingly. :D Edit: pink.

I think any sporting smackdown would be good. These smackdowns that are a combo of trial by internet and lawyers get involved are no fun for anyone!

Well I am a duel Canadian/US citizen and I have been to the Dartmouth pool, so I can't pick sides.

Second. The indoor pool at Dartmouth has only 2 or 3 LC lanes, so lane assignment is weird.

However, I can't get too excited about a 28.50 time because my daughter has swum a 24.90 as a D2 freshman In the 50 fly SCY at a nerdy engineering school,... and she didn't get recruited by Dartmouth (though we tried and it is their loss).

Good luck to both of you :-)

Wrong Dartmouth :-)

Still awake cuz I've been looking for a camera that takes video in the house. Finally found one. I think.

Found one earlier, but it doesn't work

Edit. Neither does this one.

Might be having to use the phone.
