That would be cool. I was considering doing it for a 1x experience since I am going to be in that area for only time next summer.

Good news! Thanks. I was tracking the town site this fall waiting for updates on the date for 2017 until hearing here on ST first that it was done. But it seems whatever proposal for a new owner would need to be discussed at their town meetings. Interestingly, one of the 'new inquiries' seem to be aiming for the same date? At least it sounds like multiple companies are looking to revive it.

Reading further, I see they're concerned about high bacteria at the beach...

And that Tritanium sports (via Jan Buitendag) is the one submitting the application. Anyone know about this group?

At the time it became clear the IM version was not happening, the presumption was that the town killed it, because it seemed like there were enough participants to make it financially worthwhile to WTC. Is that not the case?

Assuming Rev3 won't run it due to their nearby Maine event, who else would? How about Toughman?

The application to run the Timberman 2.0 was declined.

Seems Buitendag wanted to do a 2-day event and had he relented to the town board and went with a one day event, there may have been a chance...

I'll keep reading this in hopes someone revives it even if for a shorter distance. I want to swim in that lake (in a race setting) again.

The NASCAR track recently lost one of their two annual races. That's a meaningful blow to the local tourism economy. I wonder if the local authorities could be more accommodating to Timberman in light of that.
