Yeah, at this point I expect Raelert for the win, but I'm anxious to see what everyone looks like from about 7 miles on...

Very impressed with Kienle, I don't know if he's pushing things and is gonna blow but man he looks strong and comfortable. Dude's gotta figure out the swim but man he can bike, and his run thus far looks awesome.

Anyone else confused by that run course? Looks hard to see where they need to go next, looks like a maze of pilons and obstacles - fans included.

Nice to see Lance overtake the chicken!

not quite the most picturesque course in the world, is it? Houses on stilts, running on a tarmac, about 40 turns on a three-loop run...ugly stuff.

Oh, absolutely. As an athlete, though, multi-loop courses are the devil.

nice to see Lance seems to be loosening and striding out a little more...still going to get passed several times I think, but I'd like to see his time a couple min better than Panama

You don't enjoy being out on course with 1,300 of your best friends while they powerwalk 13 minute miles?

I took a split when lance started the run, just under the banner, and i just saw the mile 6 marker, and he is doing 5;45 pace for the 1st 6. So a little faster for all around him at the moment, but not that much as he has been tenacious to hold his spot thus far..

Re: The Texas 70.3 thread [Muggins] [In reply to] Quote | Reply

So the 4.5 mile run splits just popped up; seeing Lance and TO (live) at about 6.5-7 miles, it looks to me like Lance has been keeping the same pace as O'Donnell over the past few miles. And with Raelert still back 2 minutes he's not even gaining much time over the first half of the course.

I'm interested to see if Lance can hold this pace, he's really running well right now.

EDIT: ha, and just as I type that TO passes Lance. So it looks like he's picking up about 4-6 seconds a mile on Armstrong.

IF he holds this pace, it will be sub 1;16 or so. Good improvement from the last race, and as we can see now, the uber runners seem to have given up some of their speed on the bike. Still some miles to go, so nutrition is going to finally come into play too.

Will this be a game changer for Specialized, in both sales and product design, or will it not move the sales and design needle versus those in Specialized's competitive set?
