Team J David Uniforms.

If someone like De Soto Sport did an ode to the old Team JDavid/Hoover Racing uniform, that would be cool.

But then again, I'm old.

Or Team Foxcatcher. The 7-Eleven jerseys are very retro cool.

Speaking of old school. Have you kept up with the happenings of Peter DeGeorge post tri-team? It's a soap opera.

I haven't, and it seems like all of these things ended in some sort of unsavory scandal. Weird.

I just remember that, when I was a kid, the guys who wore those Team JDavid uniforms, Tinley, Molina, Allen, Hoover- those guys were cool.

I think I still have a skin suit and cycling cap from that team, they were pretty cool looking. Rainbow design as i recall, have to dig it up out of the boxes from hell!!

As for a remake, I'll pass for now. Take a look at DeSoto's Kona collection this year, that is cool. And a couple other companies are doing the same, I love these small run limited edition stuff, like getting a 20 dollar gold piece from the 1900's. Rare and fun to look at.

I don't think I would so hot for a team foxcatcher uniform, way too much hellish baggage with that ...

I still have my Team Foxcatcher warm-up, swim suit and two tee-shirts from the mid-80s. They were cool then but kind of creepy now.

The skinsuit is total 80's

The singlets were a bit more classic IMO

How 'bout doing the design, but changing it to Team J Miller?

I used to have one of those Tinley 1 pc suits that had what looked like Kona type design on it. Palm trees & stuff. Not the most aero feel fabric (light CoolMax), the pad wasn't great, but these 1 pc sleeved suits are just a new design of an older design. Worse yet, the Speedo. I did Kona in a "Disciplines" brand brief that had huge seams in the crotch that just dug into the area. But had a 1 pc. short sleeved "Disciplines" brand another year & it was quite comfortable. The fabric its tighter now & more tailored--but I'm a 2 pc racer in IM races...too many potty breaks needed to go 1 pc.

the sorry fact is, triathlon was built by money from hucksters, kooks and criminals. not just the guys mentioned, but the race directors. among the big RDs and race sponsors, many of the biggest were very unsavory characters.

what they DID have in common was a willingness to risk, and to think big. here's a guy, patrick o'riordan
(i never met him), who was not a huckster or a kook or a criminal, but had no problem putting huge prize money races on the schedule with no real attachment to the idea they would come off. this is from a plant report edition in 1989:

Patrick O'Riordan's $100,000 Scottsdale International Triathlon, scheduled for Sunday, Nov.26, has been cancelled. The race had been originally scheduled for May 28, but had been postponed due to lack of sponsorship. O'Riordan cited that same reason for the cancellation. "I just don't have the money," he said, adding that in the future he will announce no event or prize purse until he has sponsor contracts in hand. At the same time he expressed confidence that a $110,000 race would be held in the British Commonwealth of Bermuda in 1990. O'Riordan estimated that with the cancellation in Sept of the 1988 Bermuda International Triathlon (PR#7) and now Scottsdale, he has lost $150,000 in cash this year.

This kind of stuff was routine in the 1980s.

Hello Slowman and All,

Development and capital come from many places.

Witness that these computers we are typing (or speaking) on and the Internet that transmits the information have had help from the pornography industry.

"Pornography is considered a driving force in the development of technologies from the printing press, through photography (still and motion), to satellite TV, other forms of video, and the Internet."

I remember in 1983 JDavid supplied running shorts and running singlet for all competitors at IMH , in 1984 Levi's supplied the race gear , leftovers from LA Olympics , those were the days .
