Lofty?? Don't look at the March swim challenge. :-)

No swim for me this AM. Woke up with a sore throat, but will see how I feel around lunchtime to get some treadmill time in.

My home pool is closed for maintenance this week, my foot is still not healed and I'm about to go on a multi-city business trip. I'll see you all next month.

50,100 yards after this morning! Highest month ever (and a short month at that).

I broke 50,000 today also - 50,650 m. My highest month in about 35 years. I feel almost as fast as I did back then but the clock strongly disagrees.

Congats!

Freakin pace clock. Every once in a while ours will freeze for 5 or 10 seconds. Really helps my 100 times . . .

Yesterday, Feb 28th:
W/up: 100/400/300/200/100/50/50 - 1200m
5x100 @ 10 seconds rest, then 6x200 pull @ 15 seconds rest.
Struggled with the 100's - not sure why - the big weekend might have caught up with me, but I could only hold 1.33's
The six 200's went 3.10, 3.08, 3.09, 3.08, 3.06, 3.05. Was really pleased to salvage a resonable session out of something that was looking bad to start with...
500 easy
3300LCM.

Just had my biggest month in years - 41.8kms, all LCM.

Worked on a two-beat crossover kick today (vs. normal two-beat). Felt
good and seemed like it kept my left foot from scissoring out so far. I'll
have to do some more video to see if what feels good actually looks good.

jbank, what does 3 x 25 sc mean?
SH - sorry to hear about your shoulder. My neck seems to be tweaked after meets lately... hmmm. Nothing beats ice, heat, and/or a good massage these days.

I'm wondering what March has in store for the Fishes, lamb or lion? In New England March is coming in like a lion with some white stuff.

sc = stroke count
I've seen lots of debate on whether stroke count is a good idea,
but don't have skin in that game. My masters coach has us do
it periodically and I'm cool with that.

thanks. i've been counting now and then... notice that when i'm tired my count is higher. today during pull i focused on stroke count consistency. i'm going to start doing stroke count for stroke now too... hopefully that will help w/ backstroke.

We use dps ...distance per stroke

I can't say that I have seen a huge improvement over the past year. But, if you really concentrate you can reduce it .... Which
, according to usms website on swimming with wetsuit, is what you want to do!

I find it amusing that my coach writes dps about half the time and sc about half the time.
I'm still not clear on how those are supposed to be different...
