Swim Skin rules

I've been googling around and am more confused than before. Can someone give me a clear explanation of what is legal and for what events? Do they even make swim skins with compressed neoprene anymore? I'm doing an XTerra in a few weeks and would like to know what I can use.

I did just ordered a Synergy Syn-skin 2 from TriDepot. It's a textile suit so I'm assuming it's ok.

Roka still makes a long neoprene suit. I've got an old blueseventy one. They're still legal for Xterra, assuming you're talking Xterra events in the USA

Thanks. I'm gonna try the Synergy today to check the fit. I'm doing XTerra Fruita.

I'm realizing my body is not exactly made for the typical wetsuit sizing.

In the US Xterra follows USAT rules for swim skins and USAT has a list of approved swim skins - http://www.usatriathlon.org/...roved-skinsuits.aspx

Outside of the US Xterra follows the rules of the local federation.

Thanks. I had seen that list but didn't know if it was up to date. I'm bringing both the swim skin and wetsuit but prefer the swim skin.

One other thing to note, if it is not wetsuit legal and you wear a swimskin some federations have a rule that you must wear the swimskin for the entire event. I am not sure what the Xterra or USAT rule is but that is the rule in Canada and ITU races.
