Mohamed Farah Ran 8:03.04 for new 2 mile world record. Nearly stringing two 4 minute miles in a row.....unreal!

Find out what it is in life that you don't do well, then don't
do that thing.

Sub 8 already exists for 2 mi outdoor:
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Two_miles
As the Wikipedia article explains at the top, it's a fairly soft record because it's not a major event at any level anymore.

Not really impressed; saw the big mazungo do that at pre classic a few years back. Mo? He's gone 3:29 for the 1500. He'd better have broken the 2 mile record

That's crazy. Even if he was super-doped that's crazy.

It's not a question of being a triathlete or not. It's just something relative. Compared to other records, it's indeed a pretty soft one.
Doesn't mean anyone here thinks they can get anywhere near that. Just that they could shave off a bunch of times when comparing with the
other current records.

Being a runner, I would point out that he has run the 1500m in 3:29, mile equivalent to 3:45ish, and should have no problem running 8:xx for two miles. This makes sense to people in the collegiate and professional running communities, guess it didnt make sense to you.
Point number 2: watching a white male, 6'2", 160lbs, run faster than the, 5'6", 130lbs, Mo Farah for two miles, is more impressive. Go look up Craig mottraim and make your own decision.
Do you want to know what is more impressive? The fact that a 42 year old man was hanging with him for the first mile.
Finally, interesting how you chose to insult me, but come across as the actual dbag. You can count the number of people capable of running 8:0x on one hand- why would you even think that my comment was out of arrogance?

Just saw the thread title- two miles under 8 min, or specifically, any of Daniel komen's 3k or 2mi records, are not likely to be touched. They are considered to be the hardest records to break on the books- specifically the outdoor 3k. El Guerrouj and geb both tried and they are legends

1997 huh, funny how the largest gap in record progression happened after that pesky EPO test was introduced in the early 2000's....

Yeah, because poor Kenyans from the rift valley know how to use epo and can get their hands on it. I think you have the real d-bag comment of the day
Edit: your comment got a lot funnier when I found out you were an "elite" cyclist lol

Uh... Rita Jetpoo is only the most recent (and most successful) Kenyan busted for EPO...
Why would you assume Kenyans would not be capable of using epo?

Thanks a lot, Obama. Of course the liberals think it's EPO, while the conservatives are out actually working.

36 Kenyan doping positives in the last 2 years: http://www.nation.co.ke/...2548dhz/-/index.html
I think you win the contest for the most ignorant comment of the year.
Edit: Your comment became a lot more tolerable once I realized you were just a naive little fan boy (and a bit of an asshat).

My point was that it was very unlikely that Daniel komen, world record holder in the 3000 and 2mile, did not dope. You can read about why here: http://running.competitor.com/...o-daniel-komen_27486
But I'll summarize. Here is a guy who ran every day growing up, born from a family of 13 and they were dirt poor. How would he get ahold of epo, and know how to use it?
Established Kenyans are getting caught doping, yes. But come on, this stuff costs money- how would a kid from a family of 13, who's mother sold potatoes, afford this?

Its funny that you say this, because you accuse me of being naïve. Really? That's hilarious. Believe it or not, sometimes there are really great runners that aren't doping. Like Craig mottram, like Evan jager, like Ben true, like Chris derrick, should I go on?
Anyways, one of the classic signs of greatness without doping is a few incredible years, then a steep decline. Chris solinsky is a great example. Alan Webb is another

Actually at least one of those athletes you mentioned has had questionable blood result with a 70plus % likelihood of using epo or similar.
In the late 20th century a number of Euro coaches/managers stareted helping out the E.African runners so suggesting poor Kenyans and Ethiopians would not have access to doping is extraordinarily naive. It is still a major issue trying to successfully install a solid anti doping program in that part of the world. The number of East Africans who present questionable blood results remains very high but it is difficult to target test these athletes unlike the Russians.

Not one of those dudes is Kenyan?! Not one of them has a world record that I referenced?!
I am disengaging now but dude, maybe take a breath and bust out a google search before you call someone a d-bag for some innocuous banter?
