Sizing help Specialized Transition to Scott Plasma
Quote | Reply
Hi,

I'm getting a new Scott Plasma time trial bike, having come from a 2009 S-Works transition I'm pretty excited. I'm just trying to work out what size Plasma I should be riding.

It's a slightly convoluted process which means I need to choose pretty quickly and don't have many options to get sized up perfectly in that time.

I ride a large transition and S-Works SL4. Being 183cm I seem to fit perfectly in a Size Large but I've heard the Plasma runs small?

Any help will be appreciated :-)

Which Plasma? Are you allowed to change the bars on it?
As you haven't completed your fit coordinates in your profile it's hard to say how you would fit on the Plasma.
Ideally you would measure the Pad XY and width of your current bike, along with saddle height and setback. But just completing your profile would help.

+1 on which plasma. The 3 is somewhat limited in terms of fit without the right bar where the 2 and 4 has a regular stem so more options. The 5 is pretty adjustable from what I understand as well.

Does this help. It's an old fit but there have only been minor adjustments since.

Your saddle got raised in a BG fit, what a surprise.

Plasma 4 Large will give exactly the same weight dist as your current frame, but has a longer wheelbase so may feel a little more stable.
Will match your position with a 100mm x -17 stem, minimal spacers and the Stock Profile Design aerobars one hole forward from max setback. Profile bars will also allow you to have longer extensions than those Eastons - which would be good.

However, I'd note that you're sitting fairly shallow and could stand to move forward to allow you to achieve more drop. In which case you'd be better served by a lower stack aerobar like Vision.
I'd suggest that your current position is leaving time on the table and a new bike with more versatile aerobars is a great opportunity to address this.

Great thank you so much!!! There have been a number of changes made to my fit, nothing major but it is a more aggressive position. Since I barely ride my TT I don't have a proper Retul fit like on my roadie. Will do that when new bike comes.

Pictures from last weekend (still on same bike nearly 5yrs later) rode a 58:30, 1.50min slower than Tim Odonnell who won the Olympic Distance.
