Should pacing be based on road or TT ftp?

Should pacing in a 70.3 be based on my road bike ftp or TT bike (haven't tested). Currently my ftp sits at 260w or 4w/kg, test done 3 weeks ago.

It should be based on the bike you're racing on?

You aught to develop your initial ballpark estimate of what you might ride using TT info but then go on and refine that by completing several trials where you ride the race distance or close to it and then run a third to a half or so of the run distance at your expected race pace. Use race day nutrition while doing this and see how the run goes. If in these trials you come off the bike unable to run decently, you're biking too hard and will need to scale back your goal power. You may be hoping to bike at 85% of FTP and find you can only run well off of an 80% ride.

YMMV,
