For the tops with sleeves that come down to near the elbow, are they be legal for a non-wetsuit legal swim?

this was addressed in another thread. It woud be illegal for a WTC event (shoulders need to be exposed). Barring a specific local rule in an event you are doing, it would not be illegal in a non-WTC, USAT event.

Does anyone know if this is 1 piece or 2 piece? http://castelli-cycling.com/...roducts/detail/1005/

The Castelli rep is telling me it is 1 piece but I don't think it is. The zipper comes all the way down which suggests you can take it off

The sanremo suit from Castelli is indeed one piece. The top and bottom are connected, but not meant to look completely integrated. I have the Garmin kit in this piece and I use it for road racing and super high-end group rides (just in case).
There are back pockets and it would not be totally aero if that is what you want to race in. Big chamois, too.

I think the Octane Tri has back pockets too. I wonder why they make it look like the front can be unzipped all the way down to remove the top?

I thought the Stealth top was going to be half zip to keep the torso as aero as possible.... I get the upside to the full zip and putting it on out of the water but I kinda don't want it now for wetsuit legal races.

No, the T1 Stealth is definitely a full zip. It would be a lot harder to get on if it was half-zip and wet

I see that.... but that's not what was shown or given out last year at Kona

Since we're on the subject.... how is the PI Octane chamois? Compare it to DeSoto Forza if you can.

I had a very specific outfit in mind for IMWI this year but looks like I don't want it anymore since Stealth is now full zip.

It looks like the there is a separate tri-oriented San Remo Suit. I also have the one-piece San Remo Speedsuit made for cycling kit -- and love it. From the Castelli website, it looks like the tri suit version has a tri-specific chamois. No way would you want to run with cycling-oriented chamois. I currently race in the Castelli Bodypaint Tri-Suit (one piece) and find that it is sometimes constricting in my chest and shoulders during the run (I wear a size large and am 6'3" around 165lbs), so about half the time I roll it off my shoulders at some point during the run. Wonder how well that would work with these. As well as how people like the short sleeve suits for the swim, especially under a wetsuit (including sleeveless wetsuit).

The PI Octane is a pad and not a chamois. It's a thin pad.

Anyone know the major difference between the Castelli Body Paint SS trisuit and the Free Sanremo SS trisuit? The Sanremo is $50 cheaper.

I just got the PI Octane and this was my first concern as well. I think I could handle it for a 70.3 but I highly doubt it would be comfortable enough for an IM. The other concern I have with it is if for some reason I want to shove some chamois cream in T1 or at special needs, it is going to be very tough to get it down there if the fit is proper. I'm 6'3", 195 and the medium is skin tight in a good way (no wrinkles/felt like it would be ok to run in). The large is a little more comfortable through the body (still tight, and smooth) but the fit of the sleeves leaves a little to be desired.

I wish I could get a large with medium sized arms, but the medium will probably due. I'm just concerned with the pad so I'll mull it over for a few days before returning one or both of them.

I did two IM's with that pad... one with the Octane and the other with the Pro IN R Cool shorts that have the same pad.

I found both more comfortable than other IM races where I used Desoto Riviera or Forza shorts.

Are you on an ISM? I feel like the Desoto crowd all love that short bc we're on ISMs.

Every other short I've worn the chamois/pad is too narrow and I'm sitting on seams or too bulky.
