Shiv TT mod
Hey Folks,

Toying the idea of trying to fit the older nosecone on the newer Shiv TT. Has anyone ever attempt this "mod" on their Shiv TT? I assume it has to be modified a bit in order to fit on the newer fork (mainly because of the brake).

Yeah!

From the reply I got until now (0?), I think few buddies ever tried it...

I think I'm going to give it a go.

Got my hand on a Nose cone. I'm officially starting the project. Will keep you update. Will receive it in about a week or two.

Do you think this mod will be transferable to the non-UCI Shiv?

Not at the moment. The nosecone is integrated with the bottom half of the Shiv TT stem. That makes it proprietary to the Shiv TT only (older version).

Still waiting for it to begin the project.

I just sold a bunch of Shiv nosecones to the Pros Closet- they are probably on their ebay store.
I also have a Shiv stem, bar and a bunch of extensions if anyone is looking for Shiv parts.
You can make a cool front end for a Specialized Transition with Shiv stuff too.

This might be a tricky mod. The fork on the nosecone has cut outs for the brake pads. Not sure if the TT has these and I don't think my Transition did either. Then the head tube on the Nosecone shiv was round, so the cone could fit snugly up to the head tube as you turned it back and forth. A cylinder sucks for Cd, so I would bet they changed the profile. This will either limit how much you can turn the bars or you will have a decent gap on the side of the frame.

I did see that the nosecones were 25$ On EBay. Almost cheap enough to grab one as a spare.

Yes. Sounds like I'll have to do some modification to it.

Seems like an interesting challenge. If it works I have pretty good idea of what to do with it. A would call it a win/win mod. ;)

Let's see if I can do something. Will also check it is a cylinder shape.

Thinking of this. Pretty sure I could have a good prototype for the Shiv TT3 for Spesh. Something that could be UCI legal and illegal at the same time. (Ala Plasma 5).

So, here's an update guys:
It does sit pretty snug to the frame as expected.

Got it.

Yep, it does limit a bit how much I can turn the bar. I would say I'm limited to a 45 degree turn on each side.

45 degrees is pretty good. I don't think my Nosecone Shiv has much more than 45. What brakes are you using? The arms look a bit like a TriRig.

You are spot on on the brake. It is indeed a Tririg brake.

Now that it fits I need to have my front brake working. This is the only thing left.

When I will be done, I'm going to sand it to remove old scheme and paint it mate black.
