Shiv Extensions
I'm looking at swapping out Shiv aerobar extensions for different events and for trying them out. This is for a shiv 2011 (same as 2010 I think)

I've seen posts on here refer to people putting the extensions in the oven to free the epoxy glue, and then gluing back on whatever shape 22.2mm pipe they require, but I'm really thinking that I'd like to try different extensions multiple times and also if I'm doing a longer race like 50mile or 100mile then I'd really want something more comfortable like J bars, whereas I could probably get away with a more aero setup for shorter races like straight bars.

I've been all over specialized web site and I can't see that you can buy them. Thats worrying

Soooo... do any other extension kits fit ? The determining factor would seem to be the distance between the two screws.

or otherwise, does anyone know any way of purchasing specialized extensions or even getting them made ?

TIA

Ok the bars on the picture are USE R1 , specialized do now make an adaptor so you can use standard 22 mm extensions on your original cockpit( i have them on my shiv tt using hed extensions)
I will try and find a picture so you can try specialized

Thanks Neil

USE R1's seem to come with a shim which will make them fit ok. But you're looking at $1000=£600 at least.

I actually get on ok with the FACT bars that come with it, I'd just like to try different extensions (and not be afraid to saw bits off) so switching to USE seems like a big expense to achieve that.

cheers
Paul

Could you ask ? A concept store would be better for info than a dealer.

Thanks for the link. I did, however, spend a, what seemed like forever modifying my Shiv this winter. Geez I wish I had known about these 6 months ago!

Well I'm not having much luck here. You'd think switching a classic top end TT bike to J bars wouldn't be that big a deal (wouldn't you?)

It sounds like USE R1's cost about $1600/£1000 new.. serious cash

Local specialized shop have said we're looking at middle of june at least for extensions.

I really feel strongly here that Specialized are letting people down badly. When you've got races coming up, you can't be waiting weeks and weeks for parts that you need now.

I would seriously think twice about buying Specialized again.

If anyone has any better ideas please let me know :) (edit: would be happy to import some from the usa if any exist)

thanks
Paul

I know that teams have a bracket that fits shiv tt bars to allow ski bend (or any) type extension.
Is that what this is?
Any pics? How do I get a set in USA?
