The SRAM Red uses the GXP BB so does the Quarq so all good.

It is easy, even I could do it and just did with my wife's Stages PM.

just checked. my saddle is about 70.5-71 cm above center of BB (saddle is tilted down). in my position in the picture, i may have been at 71.5. if you can be at 69 cm, you'll have a lot of drop to play with

I ride with about 67.5-68cm of saddle height. Could you tell if much seat post would be showing? Thanks for your help.

depends on many factors. i have a Cobb saddle, and it's thicker than most other saddles (alas less post showing). FWIW, the seat tube is 51cm, which means the top tube is 49.5cm away from the BB. You'll have at least 12-13cm of post showing

Even on a large at that saddle height I am sure you will be ok. Are you measuring BB straight up to top of saddle?

Looking for the same stem 90mm zero degree. Where did you find??? I have had no luck.

I think it is so ridiculous Scott keeps these stems so elusive...The FM086 has basically replicated the stem and in addition has improved the frame's other major flaws including the front brake placement, cable entry, and bayonet front end...
Why did I buy a Plasma 3 when I could get a FM086 for a drastically lower price?

Put it this way. Bikes are pretty much the same, two triangles, a couple of circles and a few other bits.

I am fairly realistic about things, know that despite being an okay biker I would probably be as ok on any number of cheaper bikes. I liked the look of the Scott, it fit me and I thought, what the hell. In the back of my mind I always knew that I had probably spent more than I should on something that effectively did the same job as everything else.

And then I rented something else at a race in the UK. Then, partly due to no believing the difference, I rode someone else bike. The Scott absolutely blew this crap out of these other premium brand bikes that I rode. Not just in how urgent it felt but the handling and everything was streets ahead. It was then I thought I had spent my money well.

For a start there is absolutely no way that you FM0? whatever will look as good unless you spoend some serious dough on the finish. (So there goes my primary buying reason!) Secondly the way the bike is made and what it is made of will have such huge effect on the way it rides.

There is lots of talk about chinese frames breaking … i think that is probably overplayed. People also seem obsessed over chinese frames being cheaper, but you can get cheap frames from major manufacturers. However, there is no escaping the fact that just because you are buying something the roughly same shape that it will likely not look and feel the same. Do yourself a favour, go and ride a few other bikes and then fall in love with your Scott all over again.

Just picked up a used plasma frame. Seatpost is too short. Anyone have the available shims or even the remnants of a cut seatpost? Might even consider buying a full new post.
Let me know what you have!
Thanks.

I'm not sure if the dimensions are the same but I have about a 1.5 cm section of post from my Plasma 2. If it will work it's yours. Just PM me.

I believe the 2 has a seat mast. These spacers fit inside the premium as the seatpost on the premium is meant to fit fully in the pocket. Not held in place strickly by the clamp
Thanks!

You are correct. I held on to the piece I cut off because should I sell it so,done could use it as a shim.

How much extra do you need, I have some cut pieces. I also have a shim pack but I need that, it only has 2 x 1mm, 1 x 2mm, 1 x 5mm shims I think, you can stack them together and they sit on a little sleeve that slots into the seat post.

A single piece of plumber tape will attach any piece to the seat mast and the little 'stub' inside the seat stay will hold everything in place. I use the plumbers tape to stop the pieces squeaking against each other. If you overlap the tape it will not slide in though, so make it one width only.

I have also used the clamp to hold the seat post 'up' above the little stub. It worked on the old one and the new ones have the rough surface on the seat post so even stronger grip.

Not exactly sure as it depends on what saddle I will end up running. I will take all you have if you are willing to sell.
Thanks!
