Sanders - Tremblant 70.3
So they are out of the water...

Not sure Lionel will be please with his swim time today 26:21

Trying to compare with other athletes, who race him in St George 70.3

Antoine Jolicoeur-Desrochers - Tremblant - 23:41 - Utah 24:02 (-21 sec)
Jackson Laundry - Tremblant - 23:57 - Utah 24:23 (-26 sec)
Lionel Sanders - Tremblant - 26:21 - Utah 26:25 (-4 sec)

Antoine is racing in front of his friends/home and said didn't had
a great swim in St. George... Maybe, he felt the pressure
today to go as hard as he can and stay in front of the race
the longer he could.

The Ironman "race blog" live coverage may be the worst yet? Clearly they don't care about pro racing.

Stretch from 7km to 33km is hillier and I suspect the wind is blowing from the north (head wind)

Sanders average speed was 42.88km/h

Will expect really fast pace for the next split which comes around marker 59.7km...
There's a huge climb (Conception) in the middle of this stretch... that will impact the average!

Guess I was wrong regarding the wind blowing direction has bike average drop a lot...

Sanders moving at a pace of 37.77km/h for the last stretch
but the rest are at least 2km/h slower than him.

I find it VERY interesting that his power will probably be the same as last year also. What I find interesting is even though there may be no need to go harder on the bike, he doesn't. Like if i road same power/same race as last year it go crazy. Either way good job LS!

He still putting pressure and running fast...

First 4km hillier pace of 3:36min/km
next 6km pace of 3:22min/km

Reid is running a bit faster
4km pace of 3:31min/km
6km pace of 3:18min/km

Don't think Lionel is on a rush to push more than require today.

What is the bike record for tremblant 70.3?

I think it's a new record... couldn't find any time faster the past years and even the worlds 70.3 in 2014

It's done 3:46:04 run split of 1:14:01...

Last year 3:47:31... run split 1:15:06

I think the run course changed a little bit...

But don't compare run time with 2014 Worlds Championship total different run course!
It was a beast 2 loops of pain! ;)

When is this new tracker going to be rolled out to all races?

That is the best tracker I've seen and checks all the boxes.

Alex, he said he was sick this week and just getting better. Pros said the wind was low on the bike so they expected faster times but they were not that fast. Maybe a high pressure day was the conjecture from Coady. Looked like a perfect day for racing. Lionel confirmed he is locked in for ITU World's Penticton and Kona. He turned down his 70.3 world's slot this month saying he is all in for Kona 100 percent

Only diff on the run course is you head further out on the Petite Train du Nord bike path and now pass under the Montee Ryan and keep going on the other side. There is no gravel out and back on the return. Also the finish is the same loop through the village as the IM (as it was for the 70.3 till worlds). No more climb to the top of village. Not sure what the loop was last year at the end.

Lionel is doing the Peter Reid - double thing! ;)

Winning Ironman Canada (Penticton) and then Kona (back-to-back) that was in 2000!

For those that remember a bit of the history...

Just saying if Lionel gets to Penticton a few days early, he should reach-out and swim with
JohnnyO (Jonathan Caron) and grab some tips from a great open water swimmer... 48-49 mins!

They probably are in contact already!
