Hello timujin and All,

http://www.metrorestyling.com/ is your friend with carbon fiber, or chrome, or ???? vinyl wrap ... light ...... cheap .... quick .... removable

.... the look you want ....

A carbon fiber look would be cool I think .....

This is what I have done to de-brand and colour code my PowerTap GS hubs :

The camera and the kitchen lighting really doesn't do the neon green justice ... lol

It might give you some ideas, I bet you could do something really cool with a chain ring.

That looks really cool. Can you send me a link to the vinyls you use... I got a new P5 (2017 colour) and want the simple but shiny gloss black to match the fork

The neon green is from : http://www.kpmf.com/...ent-gloss-cast-vinyl

It's the best / glossiest / longest lasting neon stuff I could find in the UK.

The satin black (that covers the spoke holes on the rear hub) is just some generic stuff that my signmaker / car wrapper had.

My plans / patterns, they cut it for me and I have applied it.

Just a thought on gloss black vinyl - it's a bit less forgiving than satin. It might show the outline of the logo you are trying to hide a little more than satin and (in my experience) it will age quicker showing small marks (like from wiping over with a slightly dirty cloth) easier than satin.

Satin is very similar finish / good match to most reasonable quality bike anodising.

I recommend sand blasting...
and anodizing for black color again.

Sorry. Those procedures are quite ..complicated.

Hello timujin and All,

I like it !

Question - (I guess you are the perfect person to answer !) Do you get any issues with binding / galling with the Ti skewer into the Ti skewer nut or does the threadlock tape you recommend stop it ?

Cheers,

WD :-)

Hello WD Pro and All,

OT;

Sometimes when the skewer threads and nut are virgin there might be some additional friction until after the first use ... then fastener should go on and off smoothly.

The use of Locktite 249 Quicktape threadlock tape or liquid Loctitie 242 is just to increase the friction a bit for more fastener security ..... it is a good product to use on other threaded fasteners on your bike.

Titanium is a very corrosion resistant material so I have not seen any cases of galling (and should not happen unless the threads have been physically damaged ... and I have not seen any of that case either).

"The corrosion resistance of titanium is well documented. A stable, substantially inert oxide film provides the material with outstanding resistance to corrosion in a wide range of aggressive media. Whenever fresh titanium is exposed to the atmosphere or to any environment containing oxygen, it immediately acquires a thin tenacious film of oxide. It is the presence of this surface film that confers on the material its excellent corrosion resistance. Provided that sufficient oxygen is present, the film is self healing and re-forms almost at once if mechanically damaged."

Please PM me if you have any other questions.

Cheers, Neal
