Road bike set up as tt position question
OK. So I am setting up a permanent trainer bike with a busted road frame as a tt bike and I have a position question.
Is it important to get the saddle positioned over the crank the same as my tt bike? The front of my saddle on my tt bike is just in front of the bb. With the current seatpost I can't get the road bike saddle that far forward. Can I "rotate" my whole set up backwards and achieve the same position (hip angle)?
Thanks!

Can you not turn the seatpost round in the frame and get it further forward like that?

Hmm. Probably a little. . I was debating the fast forward posts but trying to just use stuff I already have.

sounds like you don't want to invest in any additional equipment, but in order to achieve a TT setup, the combination of an ISM saddle and negative/adjustable stem would rotate you forward and lower on a road bike.

I guess my main question is does it matter if I get lower? I don't need to be aero on this bike. If I can get my hip angle the same as on my tt despite being "higher". Is there a way to set it up so physiologically I am effectively in the same "position" . I seem to remember reading somewhere that it is possible to "rotate" your position to be similar on different sort of bikes but I can't see to find it.

I hear what you are saying - your hip angle, etc, will still be the same even if you don't rotate forward. I do think that rotating around and getting lower on the trainer allows to practicing turtling and getting the neck/upper back muscles looking up/forward. Either way, having a dedicated trainer bike is very convenient for cutting out the overhead time of setting up, etc.

Totally. I will ride it more. Basically, with three kids every extra second of training time needs to utilized. So saving 10 minutes each side of my workout is important!
