Has anyone actually seen/put a Reynolds Strike with Disc Cover? Have you seen one the fits proper without a silly gap?

Recommendations?

WB does not list Reynolds strike in the 'predefined' wheel list so I am hesitant to measure and end up with something that doesn't fit right.

Suggestions?

I bought one from wheelbuilder for my Strikes and it fit fine. If I did it again, I'd completely skip the plastic bolts and the drilling for them. Tape the perimeter and you're all set.

I got one and it worked fine once I sanded the drive-side hole to make it slightly larger so it would fit well with the cassette.

I called WB a few weeks ago about this exact setup fit question and they indicated they had built "many" with "no issues" for strikes.

Could you elaborate? You'd really trust just tape?

The plastic bolts don't really secure the cover all that much and the lip tends to not sit perfectly flat against the rim. Myself and others use a single layer of electrical tape to seal the edge. My only caution with electrical tape specifically is that the adhesive is very heat sensitive and can become gummy and soft in the heat. You can find other posts via the search where folks only used tape and no fasteners.

I've been using just tape on my wife's wheel and my wheel for 2 years now. No problems.

there are a couple advantages:

1. tape actually holds the cover still, no movement up/down over bumps, which makes it quieter than the bolts, and makes the cover last long (tends to crack around the center hole otherwise)

2. its probably hair splittingly more aero with tape

if you use good quality 3m tape, and clean both surfaces before hand, it absolutely holds it on strongly.

check the tape before each race, no problems.

the extra cautious can use the plastic bolts AND tape to get the first benefit still.

You still need to take the cassette off right?

Yes, cassette must come off. I use the tape method- no plastic bolts- and think it works much better. I add some packing tape to the inside drive side to hold it in place before the electrical tape.

I first used just the screws to hold mine onto my Strikes and the covers rubbed scrapes into the wheels after a very short time from moving slightly back and forth. My biggest suggestion is to spend the extra few dollars and get a really good quality 3M tape. It works wonders, no need for the screws at all. It also completely stops the cover from moving therefore scratching the wheels. Best of Luck

I put electrical tape around the perimeter where the cover will sit first. Then tape the cover to that. This prevents the scraping on the wheel. Plus it gives my OCD butt more to obsess over.

Wheelbuilder sells Reynolds wheels and they make the cover. I ordered one with my wheels, fits perfect! And as the rest have stated, tape the cover on, don't bother with the fasteners.
