I see many different opinions about rest days. I currently only cycle, with a one or two gym sessions per week. I have always taken a "rest day" usually Mondays. However, If I do my Sunday workout in the morning, and take Monday off, and do my next workout on Tuesday evening, I'm looking at almost two days off.
I'm 60 BTW, if that means anything. I'm in base building mode right now, doing the TrainerRoad Base Plan, and at this point, one to two rides per week at the Velodrome in addition to the TR training plan.
I can see where the high volume Ironman plans would necessitate a rest day. For my workload?
