Looking at this http://www.specialized.com/...s/tools/emt-pro-road

Anything else I should look at? I have the original Fix It Sticks but am looking to try something different to give me a few more tools

I carry this one around but it's 108g to your 65g. I think compactness matters more than weight for training rides so I don't mind the weight.

I'm not really concerned about weight. I just don't need a ton of tools so I wasn't looking for the multi tools that include an entire Lowes or Home Depot in them

It's tough to recommend a specific multi tool unless you know which features you are most likely to need/want. Longevity is moot because ideally, you'll only use the multi on an as-needed basis. So any tool from a respected brand should be suitably durable.

What bits do you want/need? Do you need a torx bit? Not all small tools include them. If you don't have any torx bolts, why carry a tool with a torx bit? IMO, the same goes for 2mm, 3mm, 6mm, 8mm, flat head, etc.

I've carried a few different multi tools. For road rides, I'm down to standard 4mm and 5mm hex wrenches. They adjust most of the bolts I want them to, they take up much less space than a multi, and they weigh less too.

I have the Specialised Pro MTB model right here on the desk at work ready for the ride home..
Just more options on it like a chain tool etc..
And a bottle opener for when your waiting for the taxi / wife .... makes a shit situation a little better..

ONE KEY POINT ON THESE;

When you get them make sure to file the end of the hex tools (ie remove the radius edge) .. most are rounded, Which means less engagement in the bolt head, and can encourage rounding out the bolt..
last thing you need when your trying to fix an existing problem..

Another vote for the emt mtb cause of the chainbreaker. Needed it once and was glad to have it (along with a missing link)

A flat kit and a 5mm hex will cover most of my problems. A chain tool is probably the next in the order followed by a 4mm and 6mm hex.

I still carry around this thing.

Ritchey cpr-14

Not made anymore

Get seperate 5 and 6mm hex wrenches and mke sure your bolts match. Use Sram powerlink chains and bring an extra link. Done.

At 168g, this is heavy, but with a chain breaker and spoke wrench it's also the most versatile. http://www.crankbrothers.com/product/view/146
