Rear Disk Failure
While out riding today, my Rear Disk died on me. I have only had the wheel for a couple of months, but believe the shop had for a year or two, which is why I got a steal.

So during an interval, all of a sudden, then bike almost disappeared under me, Lucky not to crash. Upon further review realized the hub, had actually separated from the disk.

Fairly concerned. Has anyone had that happen? We were pushing hard at a low cadence, but never eve considered that to be possible.

Any thoughts. Plan to take back to shop tomorrow. Even though they gave to me far below cost, I assume they can still work with manufacturer to get fixed.

Reynolds disc. Bought new, but was probably in store for a couple of years.

Nothing to see in picture really, just that the hub is no longer bonded in place so it can move of center, and disk and hub can move seperately of each other.

Are you talking the freehub or the bonding to the disc itself? I had one and it was an absolute tank.

If it was brand new then Reynolds has a two year warranty on it's wheels.

Same thing happened to 2 of my friends with Reynolds discs in the last year. Dede Griesbauer had to drop out of IM WA last year for the same reason. Tom Lowe had the exact same thing with his Reynolds disc at Silverman 70.3 last October and had to drop out.

that's exactly what happened to mine. That's not cool. Like the wheel, but don't want to deal with that again. Could have ended much worse.

Shop said to bring it in, so we will see what they have to say. Definitely not something they can fix though.

I burned up a rear Assault rim a couple of years back doing Everest Challenge on a descent. Wheel was trashed but Reynolds replaced it. Bike shop sent it in and they sent the replacement and a new set of brake pads.

Was the disc "new" when you purchased it or a "demo" unit? The only 2 reasons I would see Reynolds not honoring the warranty is if it was a demo unit or if the shop wasn't an authorized retailer. Good luck!
