In all seriousness... I understand software / contract / deliverable problems... but don't announce anything until you are close to shipping it.

That said... I've been using it just fine since 2008 with the existing software and don't really see a need to upgrade anytime soon. In fact - the vast majority of the time I don't use the software at all.

Yeah, those Atari graphics and cumbersome interfaces don't need updating ;)

Personally, and in all seriousness, I can't wait to receive my copy of RM1.

Yep. I imagine there were a few lessons learned from this experience.

Myself, no software, all manual. Might get the Ergvideos soon to fight the boredom.

Yes the graphics suck, but the fundamental functionality isn't really changing. Resistance will still change in the same way it always has. There are really 3 uses for the software in my experience:

1. When in Erg mode to see some stats on screen. Doesn't really need a facelift.
2. When in SpinScan to see some stats on screen. Doesn't really need a facelift.
3. When riding a course. Yes graphics are crap, but, when I do this, I end up watching TV anyway as the ride is probably multiple hours. What I'd prefer is stats overlay over my video (watts/elevation profile/distance). That would be good. Don't really care about HD bicycle guy.

4 (bonus) - racing indoor TT's. Again - no need for RM1 here. Just need to see where I am in relation to my competitors.

Anyone know if the Real Course videos are going to have better quality video with RM1 release?

Lake Placid was such a piece fo crap compared to ergvideo, i used it for 15min and gave up due to poor quality and slow choppiness.

I sort of agree... but... If the interface was much better, I think more of us would use it. Just like you, I almost never use the 3D mode, as I found it lame as hell.

The new 3D mode seems pretty cool, with virtual racers, pack riding .. etc.

What would really be cool would be some online, multiplayer type action. Unfortunately, we will have to wait for Racermate 2 (or beyond) for that.

It is real nice to get at everything from a single screen, rather than having to enter and exit programs, depending on what you are doing.

And if there are bugs, they will fix in the new sw, where the old stuff will I assume have no more updates.

The PUCK....REALLY???
http://www.computrainer.com/rm_inc/sales/Puck.html

This thing looks archaic to say the least.
I can't believe another company hasn't come along and smoked these guys out of the water yet. I feel for them that technology and software development is a constantly moving target but they seem REALLY behind.

I saw that too. I can't believe it is a $200 add on. $200 for a cadence sensor. Doesn't the cANT software only cost $50 and let you use the cadence sensor already on your bike (with no wires)?

As for Racermate One, I won't believe it until I have it in my hands.

No, the video quality is the same. The interface on the bottom is different. Much easier to read.

Holy crap. I saw the Puck in the email this morning and nearly lost it. Honestly, how could anyone but RacerMate propose something this archaic and unsightly in 2012? What I did not notice however was the $200 price increase for the models bundled with the puck.

$200 for the puck. What the actual f---k.

Why do I feel like I constantly have to disclaim that I don't hate RM, I don't want them to fail, but my god this is absolutely and utterly embarrassing. $200 for RM One Software upgrade, $200 for "the puck", meanwhile we have individual efforts like ctANT which do far more for far less, and to be honest, as a SW developer, ctAnt is already very overpriced for a small utility program-- but at zero competition you can charge whatever you like so more power to the author.

What can I say without sounding like a dick... RM is a very hard company to watch these days.

I think the "puck" is more for the Computrainer studios that have lots of different bikes going in and out. The regular cadence setup doesn't work well that situation. Since I have a dedicated bike for my computrainer and I'm the only one that uses it, the standard cadence sensor works fine for me.

Low volume stuff is not cheap to make.

So, if you do not need it, you have no issue.

I think a lot of stuff people buy is stupid and over priced, but if there was not a market, it would not be for sale.

You really think those devices have the horse power to run this stuff?

I dunno, but I can tell you I'm still kicking myself over that one. I'm a software engineer and was literally working on what essentially amounts to the exact same features as ctANT when I discovered that ctANT already existed.

At the time it was for hobby purposes / my own personal use and actually selling it was an afterthought. But kudos to Gretek, he took it a whole lot more seriously than I did and beat me to the punch fair and square.

More importantly, I'm just glad to see that I wasn't the only one who was so appalled by RM's seeming inability to perform a relatively simple task that they felt that they could do a better job in their spare time than RM seems to do full time.
