Question about brake adjustment
I recently picked up a new set up wheels which are wider then my previous ones. These new ones have an external width of 24 mm. Im running FSA Gossamer brakes and only have maybe 1 mm between pads and the new wheels. I've tried to set the brakes to their max width by loosening the nut on the side but this only give me that 1 mm on either side.

My question is, is it ok to remove the concave washer that is used to adjust the brake pad or should I just sand down the brake pads?

Have you tried releasing cable tension at the pinch bolt?

Yeah, I released all the tension on the bolt that clamps down on the brake line.

If the brake pads are not touching the rim, you are good to go.

As long they are aligned good and touches on nothing, it should work perfectly.

The concave washer doesn't serve a structural purpose, it's there so you can align the pads parallel with the rim (or slightly toe-in). You can remove the washers if needed.

You can also purchase low profile brake pads, which are thinner than regular pads and should give you enough clearance.
