Just used this BTA bottle for first time today.
Bit of a nightmare as magnetic straw did not hold to magnet even on good road surface ! Any one else used this. Thanks

I taped the straw in the groove. This is temporary fix. Might try aero mast from old aero 30. I was so excited for this product but every bump causes the straw to fall. I also wedge it in between my arm and aero pad

That's dreadful, not really prepared to wedge things! Looks like it will be going back. Very disappointed.

Are you referring to the grove or do you use the magnet pad? If the roads are rough and you want more retention you can remove the silicone around the straw shroud. Then it is metal on magnet. Make sense? Here to help.

Hi

Thank you for response.

Road are perfect here and straw fell off just lifting it down stairs to start with ! When the bottle was set up in house, static and empty - straw stayed in place, When bottle filled with water and filled to go out for ride, straw was not stable. Yes I can take silicon off but I am not at all confident that the magnet is strong enough to hold straw in place on my races.

Unless your bottle has defective magnets remove the silicone from the shroud will provide very high retention. We just tested it here on the office and quick ride. Should not be a problem.

I will try that but my UK distributor has told me that shroud is to help with any potential rattle/noise etc .
When you tried it out , was the bottle and straw full of water ?

Full unit, rough roads here in Bend. I could not get it to come off on my lunch ride today. I do prefer to have the straw tubing lay along the extensions and have the shroud connect to the magnet pad on my extensions. Make sure the shroud is centered in the back of the unit when you have it attached to magnetize properly to the embedded magnets in the unit.

Cheers,

Hans

Sure, so use the magnet pad that comes with the unit. It is neodymium high strength magnet. Position it where you want to lay the straw tubing. I also explain this on our "Mounting your AeroZ" video which is on our TorHans Facebook page. Here is a pic of the unit on Starky's bike. The silicone shroud cover is off and attached to the magnet pad.

Ted -- What material is the straw tube made out of? Mine isn't long enough and I am trying to source something longer. Latex? Silicone? Other?

E-mail sent, but I'm still curious what tubing material was used. Can you share that?

I'm also having problems with the tubing being too short. I've tried orienting the aero z in multiple positions but haven't been able to get it to sit comfortably for me.

Same here. I tried all positions and still too short.

Having same issue with the length..

Also, a second magnet would be great or a similar clip solution like that of the xlab torpedo. I tried using the supplied "magnet disc" and on the first bump the straw fell off.

Hey all,

We should be receiving our spool of AeroZ tubing in a few weeks. We do have longer tubing in stock in our warehouse but it is stiffer. For the magnet retention we are removing the the silicone off of the magnet shroud, so now metal on magnet.

email info@torhans.com if you want info on purchasing the longer tubing we currently have. I'll update you all when we get our AeroZ tubing spool.

Cheers,

Hans

I just got this off of amazon--seems to be the same thing. Of course, now I have over 8 feet of the stuff left over but I like to tinker so it will likely be used for something. One issue I had was the mouthpiece coming off (original tube and the new tube). I used some silicone sealant and it seems to work fine. I am not sure if it is food-safe. As it is on the outside of the tube, there isn't much interaction with the water in the mouthpiece.

I have found that filling the Areo Z quickly is a problem due to the internal tube/sheath thing. I assume this is designed to minimize splashing but it is not possible to fill the bottle and toss the empty at a bottle hand up. I may have to cut that down and deal with minor splashing. I mounted a garmin 510 mount to the top so it now seems to be a great multipurpose BTA option. Of course, if Torhans incorporated such things, I am sure it would be appreciated.

Same issues here. Can't reach my straw and it falls out all the time. Glad to see there's an option to purchase, but mine is going back. Very sad.

Does the magnet fit over the replacement tubing you bought on Amazon? I got sent extra tubing from Torhans but it is ever-so-slightly thicker than the original tubing and the magnet doesn't fit around it.

Yep, it fits fine. If anything, it is a little loose. I put a small rubber band below it to keep it in place.

Ted,

Quick question - how does the Torhans system work with a bike that has an integrated bladder? I have a Shiv so I'd like have the bottle system feed the bladder. Your website mentions future compatibility with integrated bladder systems but is it something you have today?

As an FYI, I run Tririg alpha aerobars with the bta mount they provided.

Thanks,
