Not to be over-dramatic about Wildflower but the end of this race/event/celebration is really tragic.
It's been a mainstay of my life for the past 26 years. Both the 1/2 and the Oly are so incredibly hard - and early in the season, such a litmus test for the rest of the year.
More importantly, how it was an event to camp out and connect with your friends and new ones that you would meet there.
Personally, friends who can't make the time to reunite for milestone birthdays or other events still find a way to make it out to camp and race at WF every year -- it's that important and meaningful.
This circle of friends has expanded and contracted but the core group remained.
It's the one durable, enduring event that we all show up for.
Sadly, there is nothing else like it.
I can't believe it's now over.
What are your favorite memories about Wildflower?
It deserves an appropriate wake.
