Please help me find the best power meter option
Quote | Reply
I have a power meter dilemma. I used to run stages pm on a tri bike (cervelo p2) 10 speed ultegra with fsa cranks.
But I needed some quick cash last year so I sold that.

Now I'm ready to use a pm again. But the problem is that now I have a road bike (cervelo r3) 11 speed ultegra rotor cranks.

If I had the option, I would go with the stages again but it won't work with rotor bb bright cranks with the roadie. [Unless I change to shimano cranks]
Powertap would be an issue with the 10 speed on tri bike and 11 speed on tri bike. [Unless I upgrade to 11 speed on the tri bike or change cassettes everytime]

I want to stay at around $700-$800 so I don't want to go into Quarqs, SRMs etc.

Is the Garmin Vector S the easier option? I run shimano pedals so I don't really want to get refitted.

Help!

powertap is very easy to deal with 10 and 11 speed.

Order a 2nd freehub body.

Put a 10 cassette on one, and an 11 cassette on the other.
Freehub bodies just snap on and off in seconds, no tools needed.

This is the easiest option, and data quality will be far better than 1 legged solutions.

For powertaps, do you think it's better buy just the hub and get it on my decent training wheels (fulcrum wheels) or just buy the whole rear G3 alloy wheels?

Do you plan on racing with power also?

Not a huge deal if I can't race with it. Not a deal breaker.

Power2Max classic is $799 works with the Rotor stuff without issue. I've got one paired with my 3DF Cranks.

I think it is better to buy a cheap training wheel with a powertap already in it, that is usually the best value.

Use a wheelbuilder.com cover for races to make it a disc wheel.
