I was just in Parry Sound cycling and have a cottage there. What area are you staying in or hotel so I can get a bearing and suggest something.

Edit: about an hour drive away is the Muskoka bike course, which is great riding and if you plan do tackle next year getting to know the course is invaluable.

wow - small world. i'm in rural sierra leone right now, but i'm off to parry sound in a few days. my mom's family is from there, as is my wife; we've got a cottage there, and got married there too.

so, parry sound bikes is also good (also on bowes st), if you find dave b at trysport a bit bristly (!). probably your best bet is to ride the old highway. it's pretty wide, nicely paved, and very quiet since the 400 was extended. you can also turn west onto 559 and ride to kilbear park - some good rollers on that road, and far more interesting than the highway, but the surface is worse, it's narrow, and there will be more bonehead holiday traffic.

a gravel/'cross bike is a great bet up there - rail trails and country roads make for awesome riding in parry sound.
