P5 Cabled Rear Brake
Who here is not running Maguras on their P5?

If not, what specifically are you running on the rear? And how were you able to make it work (spacer, bracket, etc)?

Didn't Cervelo sell a cabled brake version of the P5-3 at launch? I'm curious how and what brake they used in the rear.

They did, and I can't recall what brake they used.

I have personally installed a TriRig Omega on the rear of a p5, and it requires nothing special other than patience, as there is room to turn a hex wrench exactly 1 face of a hex bolt per turn when you bolt a brake on!

It works well.

But you need to space it away from the frame, right?

Hopefully someone will chime in about the early P5-3 builds.

Brakes always have to be spacered some amount from the fork or frame. I was able to make it work with the regular kit of spacers that come with the tririg. I don't remember if it was an unusually big stack of them or not.

I couldn't get the Tri-Rig to work well without a metric crap ton of friction and also a giant stack of spacers. I kind of lost it when Nick suggested I just drill a hole in the downtube of my new bike. I asked him if he'd warranty the frame if I did that. <SMH>. So I just got a TRP brake with the metal noodle and it works just fine.

I mounted a TriRig brake on the rear of my P5-3 and had no special issues whatsoever. It worked just fine.

The size difference in the bikes probably makes a difference. And bar choice.

They did make a cable brake version of the 3. They specd a special TRP variant of one of their brakes with the cable pull from the opposite side. I couldn't find one and cervelo didnt have one when I checked. But I think any of the TRP with noodle can be made to work well. And with the cover, who cares about the aero of it.

Also, did a tri rig back there. It took some fine tuning to the cable length and a modification of the bb guide, but I got it working pretty well.

How did you end up modifying the BB guide? Pic by chance? I'm wondering how I want to handle that same challenge right now.

Thanks.
