Owners of Castelli T1 Stealth - Please help me!
I'm going to purchase a Castelli T1 Stealth http://castelli-cycling.com/...roducts/detail/1001/

However, I can't decide on a size. I am right at a Large or X-Large. I'm 6'2 with a 42 inch chest. The Castelli rep seems to think the XL will be fine but I want to know from owners of the top what they think. Therefore, if you own the Stealth, how does it fit?

The stealth top fits like most of my Castelli stuff, small. I am 6'0" and 40-41" chest and got a large. It is snug, as it is supposed to be I guess, but fits well and doesn't feel too tight. XL would probably be the right choice for you. Hope that helps...

Yeah the sizing chart has me pegged right at XL. How are the sleeves...thats my biggest concern? I feel like the XL sleeves may be too loose

The sleeves are not as snug as around the chest, but they aren't loose. They seem to be fine for my cyclist arms... I'm pretty happy with the top, feels fast, and as a cyclist, I like having the pockets while riding. When I did my last ironman, I used the castelli aero cycling top, so it is nice to have a tri-specific version to use this year.

I can't speak to anything but what I have and my build.... which is 5'10" and 160 (+/-5). Based on the Castelli site, I am exactly a medium and that Stealth top fits me.... PERFECTLY!

I have athletic arms, NOT TdF arms... the sleeves fit perfectly, not too tight, not loose, ZERO wrinkles.

I'm about your weight (though a little taller) 38" chest but with TdF arms, do you think I should size down to a small (the Castelli Aero Race 4.0 in a medium is loose on my arms)

My assumption would be if the Aero Race is loose in the arms, the Stealth will be too.... again, my assumption (though probably accurate).

My worry for you would be, if you size down, that increases the chances for stretch wrinkles and then defeats the point of the jersey and you'll be better off with their Free Tri Jersey.

Thanks, that's what I'm waffling on as well. Appreciate it.

My experience is that the sleeves on the T1 are not as tight as the sleeves on the aero race jersey.

I ordered the XL. Everything I have read suggests that Castelli runs small. My 42inch chest fits right in the middle of the XL so I'm hoping it fits tight. If not, I'll return it.

thank you!
Has any owners found the long sleeves to get hot? On different sites it shows some mens with and some without full sleeves. Are the forearm portions removable?

thanks again

You don't want the T1 Stealth with sleeves. That's not the "standard" one that everyone else has. I called these guys about a week ago and they have most sizes in stock:

Mine doesn't have forearms since I think it's the stock production version (there was a Kona pre-production version, I believe).

Definitely didn't feel the slightest bit overheated with the sleeves. The wind on the bike and the super light fabric is great for cooling.

I tried on the Castelli T1 Stealth today in XL. It seems to fit snug but had some wrinkles along the chest. As I pulled the suit down toward the waist, the wrinkles seemed to go away and look alot better. Does anyone else experience this? Every photo I've seen of the T1 Stealth people have wrinkles in the chest area. The fabric is super thin which may add to it. The XL is the correct size for my chest (42 inches) on their website

Anyone have any idea of the benefit of the T1 versus the Aero Race Jersey? Seems like the same product, full zip, etc but the aero jersey has better color options.

Couple of questions:
  • What length races do you have in mind for this top?
  • Are you planning to wear it under a wetsuit or put it on in T1?
  • Will you keep it on for the run?
  • Any races/conditions where you figure you definitely won't use?

I don't have advice to offer, just interested in how folks are using tops like this. Sorry if you included this info earlier - I couldn't see it though.

The T1 is designed to be worn over a tri top during the bike portion and taken off for the run. Consequently, it's significantly lighter fabric than the aero race jersey. During a hot race, I'd find the aero race jersey too hot to wear over a tri top. If you weren't going to wear it over another top, however, I see no reason not to choose the aero race jersey over the T1.

Why not? The extra aero and sun protection seem like a good thing. Are you saying it's too hot with the sleeves?

It's because they don't make that one anymore that I know of. If you can find it, it's an older model that wasn't the "official" one
