You might think I'm crazy but I've often thought of doing something similar but just to the rear end. I bet if that bike had a normal front wheel/tire/fork it would be shockingly fast from an aero perspective. My thinking is that the very wide rear disc is better suited to reattaching the turbulent air coming off of the rider's legs.

Rob deserves his 15 minutes of fame.
The bike deserves about an hour. ;-)

Needs a much bigger front chainring for a TT bike.
Reminds me of a theory I have about fat bikes being great for biking across the USA. So often I see people touring across the country on a mix of pavement and gravel, getting stuck in mud and snow and all kinds of crap. Or at least having to push their bike because the gravel road is too mushy for their skinny tires or it suddenly turned to sand. So maybe not a fat bike, but these new "plus tire" mountain bikes with slicks would probably be great if you slapped some clip-on aerobars so the rider could get aero when heading into the wind. One review I read of a full suspension fat bike said it was about as close as you could get to riding a personal hovercraft because of the way it rode over everything (snow, mud, sand, and gravel).
Anyway, cool bike!
