Organized OWS in Bellevue, WA area?
Are there any organized weekly OWSs in the Bellevue, WA area that maybe I could jump in to join next week? I have swam in one of the lakes in the past, but was solo on that. Groups, Tri teams/clubs, etc.? Hoping to find a group that maybe goes out weekly right now.

I'd contact Ben Bigglestone - he's got a tri team VO2Multisport (that I'm on, but not active in it much anymore) that is starting to go out in Lake Sammamish - http://www.vo2multisport.com/contact-us/

I've seen posts in the team Facebook group about OWS in the last few weeks.

There is usually OWS in the morning at Idyllwood on Lake Sammamish on Wednesday and Friday at 6 am. I dont work at MS anymore where we had an email thread to coordinate OWS. Will need to check with the old gang to see if it has started up again this year. Chances are you can just show up around 6 am on those days and usually find atleast one other crazy trying to get in the lake to swim the bouys.

How far are you trying to swim? I haven't been in the water in a while, but would be happy to jump in the water next week if we can make the timing work.

Other side of the bridge, but an informal group of us have a facebook group to plan swimming in the area. People find partners and recommend swim locations and times. Others randomly post to talk about OWS.

Introduce yourself there and say where you want to swim and when and most likely you will get some people to join you.

Madison Park beach on Friday mornings has a reliable following and people in the group (or others) are frequently there around 6:30am. There is also a solid bakery nearby...just sayin.

x2 - Idylwood is a good spot, just show up early and wear a bright cap in case ski boats are out. They're not supposed to go near the park, but you should still be alert.

+1 on Madison Park as well. Their maple bars after the swim are amazing...

First thing I thought of as well. Watch out for boats.

Also Greenlake if you don't mind going over there. Bath house theater to community center. There's people swimming that route at any given time on weekends.

Thanks for all the great feedback. I found a co-worker that lives there, going to take me out Monday after work and plans to kayak next to me while his wife and I test out my new wetsuit. I am going to look up the rest of these places and maybe hit another couple of swims next week as well.

A couple more options for you:

http://www.meetup.com/Seattle-Green-Lake-Triathlon-Group

There are OWS groups swimming in Lake Sammamish in preparation for the Issaquah Triathlon next weekend. (In fact I am swimming with them tonight)
There are also OWS in Beaver Lake regularly (on the Issaquah Plateau)
(There is typically a Sunday OWS at Luther Burbank Park on Mercer Island... but they haven't really started for the year)

The upcoming swims are in Green Lake... but they try to spread it around.

Both groups are filled with outstanding and supportive people.

I do the same thing as them, just slower

:( Damn. I was going to race Issaquah. And Victoria 70.3, and Vineman. Instead sitting at home with a broken clavicle and 4 ribs.

Green lake is about perfect right now. Water temp mid 60s. The sun is out this afternoon and I almost felt warm in my wetsuit. You could certainly go budgie only and be fine if the sun is out. Water quality is good right now. No milfoil yet either. And the only boats are crew teams and rental sups and paddle boats.

Who knew there were so many Seattle people on ST.
Wayyyy to the South but Lake Tapps is awesome right now. The water is too low for boats, so you can pretty much swim where ever you want. On the weekend there are a couple people with Jet Skis but weeknights it is just swimmers and paddle boarders.
