You think they've included those extra bits at no cost to you? Really? I'll grant you that they've offered you more parts which you may or may not use, but you're paying for it. They may even express or defend it as a value proposition (here's an example). Nothing inherently wrong with that. It's a different approach.

Got my new rear speedbox last week.So they should be out there soon.I am in Canada & would expect The US shops to heve them sooner than me.
As for stems,I went with the original speced one.I did order a size up,but then found that I was fine with the original stem after I rode it for 1-2 weeks.Cam.

I've currently got an SRAM QuarQ Cinqo in a Sram Red GXP bottom bracket on my road bike. I'm close to placing my SC order (9.9). I see the SC has BB90? I'm ignorant of all the designations. Will my Quark setup interchange with the SRAM Red equipped SC bottom bracket?

I'm still running that setup...

When I force myself to go out there, say, when taking a roundabout at speed, I can see why some of the protour guys might like a more road-drops position on technical TT courses. Otherwise, meh.

- you mean still running the 100x10 setup?

- Can you expound further on why, in your opinion, do the protour guys like a more road-drops position on on technical TT courses-- based on your experience on the 100x10 stem?

Should be no problem. Exactly what sciguy and his wife did for her bike.

I did this as well, as long as you by the SRAM equipped bike it already comes with the necessary BB adapters so the Quarq was just plug and play. If you normally use the BB ring adapter for the magnet though you'll need a different arrangement as there is nowhere to install the ring. I just used two-sided tape to stick the magnet down there.

yup, still got the 100x10 installed.

figure the road TT folks spend the vast majority of their time developing their handling skills on their road rig, ergo, when the going gets tough in that respect they feel more at home in a road rig-ish position. the guys who seem most at home carving turns on their TT bike don't look (to me) all that different from crit specialists. as to the science of why: lower CG, similar weight distribution, etc.

on my road rigs I don't strafe the apex on the bar tops or the hoods...I'm in the drops. on my tri bike I've gotten pretty good at taking corners on the extensions, but not without a little more pucker-factor than on my road bike and not quite at the same speeds. the few times I've done it out on the bullhorns with the 100x10 I did feel more confident.

how many multisport courses repeatedly call for that though? the only one I've done which might have qualified was that corner-happy loop for ITU SC du worlds in/around Lowes Motor Speedway 2yrs ago.

Carl, and others:

Has anyone successfully installed after market brake levers? I tried with Sram TT900, but they would not fit in the bar ends.

Thanks,

Hey Carl,

Thanks for all the patient responses.

- Out of curiousity, I would love to see your 100/10 stem setup on your Speed Concept. Do you mind posting a picture here (Or sending me an email or a link to a photo site) of the entire profile (side view) of your SC? Not just the stem but the whole bike. I hope you don't mind. I would like to see the length of seatpost relative to the way the 100/10 stem sits on your frame.

- Also, what was Lance's Speed Concept frame size? A Medium I suspect based on just eyeballing still shots of him during the 2009 and 2010 TDF time trial stages. When Contador was using an SC (2009 Tour) did he use a size Small SC?

Lots questions here (so take your time) but I believe you understand my conundrum. :)

SERIOUSLY, thanks a bunch !

Contador rides for specialized now in 2010: http://www.guardian.co.uk/...tador-tour-de-france

About to order a sc, but curious how you all got fit on one if they aren't in shops and no real stack and reach yet. I'm currently riding an xl transition and a 56 da. I'm 5'11. Who fit you on your sc and how did you decide on size?

If you've been fit on your transition and da and assuming those numbers are correct, simply take your stack and reach off of those two bikes and use Treks guide to figure out which frame you should be riding based on your current numbers. Quite simple really. Carl can be of help for any more specific questions.

Used the fit on a previous bike and looked at the charts. The hard part came when I was deciding to go small and medium and hw I wanted my basebar stack and reach to play in to it. I went with the small and have been very happy.

Yep that was the biggest choice, small or medium - and what basebar/stem/seat post exposed combination was the most flexible and visually pleasing.

can I run a Quarq on my SC 9.9? What is the best way/setup to do this? Thanks

The Quarq folks have a BB/crank compatibility page (just found it myself) - yay!

Pretty much drag and drop as long as you've got a compatible crank. If you look a little ways up in this thread (JP @#881) you'll find hints on how/where to mount the other bits. sciguy probably has the most long-term experience with an SC-Quarq setup and would be a great resource too.

-both on medium frames.

Paul,

It isn't a great angle, but this is an XL Speed Concept with a 100/10 stem.

The mount for a vertical Bontrager aero bottle, a la Lieto, perhaps? I'm working on my own...

Thanks Craig! That's a fairly aggressive setup you got there.

Anyway, I wanted to see Carl's geometric setup because Carl and I are practically the same height. Moreover we have virtually the same pad stacks and reach (+/- 1 cm) but he has a longer BBR and his saddle is higher by 1 cm. The only difference is that I am on a Small SC and he is on a Medium SC and our stacks / reaches are virtually (+/- 1 cm) the same only because I use a 100/45 stem while he uses a 100/10 stem (except once again for his longer BBR). Hence I wanted to see what his medium SC setup looks like that practically mirrors the fit of my small SC.

Anyway, with the new gizmo and doodad loaded on his cockpit, I guess I'll just have to wait when he can reveal these to the public and post a pic of his steed. I can only be happy that Trek continues to develop new giz/doods for the SC. (Carl, ask the folks at the factory floor to make a 75/10 post will ya! .... and make that carbon too!)

Pax.

Not just Chris Lieto. I looked at Raelert and Dibbens setups at Clearwater and both had the same setup. They had a extra hole drilled in the top with a piece of foam stuffed in to avoid splashing.

And I was hoping for the prototype bar with the extensions going through the basebar...

Yea drilling out the bottle is no problem. You get a look at exactly how the cage itself was mounted to the bars?

Carl

I hope you're proud of your involvement in the Speed Concept; you should be. I love mine:

One little issue at the moment is how do you fit the Di2 'junction A' with a 100/10 stem? It almost fits, but it's going to be snug, so any hints are most welcome

For those with SRM, I fitted a strong, flat, self adhesive magnet inside the brake cover. It works a treat!

Many thanks
