Any suggestions for a water bottle and straw system for the SC water bottle cage between the bars? 2015/6 model.

Thanks!

can't say we've done much in the way of ranking straw-based horizontal bottle systems...as a rule of thumb definitely look for one where the straw can be stowed out of the airflow. after that, it's kind of up to you on whether you want a proprietary system (i.e. no hand-ups/swapping standard bottles) or not, and if you're looking for computer mounts etc. several related threads in the forum related to aero performance (esp. those where Jim from ERO posts on his track testing).

Thanks. I just want a water bottle that fits in the SC cage that has a straw. Sorry, I am new to the SC and the cage that Bontrager has for the bike. I don't know that a hand-up is.

I did read that the Speedfil A2 bottle works. Are there others?

no worries...I was being redundant with the hand-ups/standard bottle swaps. the A2 is the only one I'm somewhat familiar with. there may be others.

Thanks. My P1 9.9 arrived at my LBS today.... can't wait to ride it this weekend.

The other thing I am struggling with is a tail light for training rides. Any suggestions? The Bontrager Flare would be great but the clip most likely won't fit on the seat post.

the Flare mount will just barely make it around the post...have to pull the adjustable band out to it's maximum setting. that's what's pictured toward the top of the post in the pic below.

alternative idea: save the rear reflector mount that comes with the bike and disassemble the Flare mount to bolt the Flare receiver directly to the reflector band (after you remove the reflector). that's what's below the standard Flare mount in the pic.

I'm still buying parts for mine so I can't speak from experience, but I was going to go with a Serfas Thunderbolt as seen on the P3 in this thread...

Carl - I have 2 questions regarding my 2014 SC7.5.

1. The seatpost is seized into the bike, probably due to accumulation of sweat and sticky drinks. Any advice on removing it?

2. Something appears to have fallen into the downtube - I hear something (sounds rather large) rattling around. Perhaps a nut or something? Any idea what it could be and/or advice on getting it out?

Thank you!

The A2 does work. That's what I (happily) use. Although, I do use a small velcro strap around it to keep it in. I have no trouble holding in a regular bottle, but the added weight of the A2 is just more than the bontrager cage can hold over bumpy roads.

1. Without seeing it in person to know if something else is going on, hard to give good advice. If you're not comfortable trying to get it out yourself, bring it to a Trek dealer.
2. May follow from the resolution of #1...i.e. drops out of frame when you turn it upside down after the post is removed. If it's too big for that, you (or the shop) will need to pull either the fork or the cranks & BB to create a larger opening for whatever it is. I admit I can't think of anything that would just fall into the frame in the course of normal use.

I plan to use a Profile Design HC that I already own in a Gorilla XT cage like here.
I'm too cheap to buy the $99 cage mount from Bontrager so I will use these XLAB spacers to mount the gorilla cage on the SC extensions. I'll probably have to drill the cage because the two screws are too far apart for a standard cage. The Bontrager kit uses a special mounting bracket.

I'm doing this over the weekend and will let you know.

How did the trek pro team mount the light on their bikes? did they disassemble the band mount and screw it into the hole for the draft box mount?

exactly

ETA: but it doesn't sit level to the ground that way...the angle on the bracket is slightly off for that...so I believe there are some custom bits which have been supplied to straighten things out for them.

in case you don't get any bites, I've learned we actually put the rear reflector brackets for both generations of SC into the dealer ordering system as service parts.

Gen1 SC rear reflector bracket: W306729

Gen2 SC rear reflector bracket: W327560

Both are in stock in all domestic warehouses.

thanks Carl adding a wedge to the back is easier than making a whole mount for it.

Hey Carl, how are you?
I just bought a gen 2 speed concept, 9 series p1 and have a Qu about the bottom bracket...
I pulled out the stock crank (shimano 105) to put my dura ace SRM crank in and noticed that there was a plastic adaptor (on the non drive side) between the spindle and the inner casing of the bottom bracket (press fit)... I kinda crunched it trying to get it back in and damaged it a little.
Hopefully not too much but got it back in in the end and there doesn't seem to be a problem...
Do you know if it is an adaptor or a dust cap?
Or possibly the wrong bearings were installed.
I owned a generation 1 speed concept and also have a 2015 madone that both have a bb90 and they just have a rubber coated metal washer (red) that sits on the outer part of the bearing and functions as a dust protector... I haven't seen one like this before....
Any insight would help me out and as always thanks for your help.

In addition to that... I have just read back through the speed concept manual and read about the axel shields... The plastic part I'm referring to appears to be perhaps an axel shield...
Though the manual states that the axel shield is installed in clicks etc... Then the bearings are pressed in.... Whereas this plastic shim thing must have been placed in after the bearings were pressed and was on the outside...
Sorry if I have done an average job of explaining.
