Anyone have an estimate of the cost to convert a 2014 7.5 to UCI legal?

Hi Carl

Was there a 5mm riser spacer on the first gen? I'm just in the process of doing some position tweaks and I don't remember ever seeing one in the kit. If there was, is it possible to get hold of them now? If not, can the bottom part of the aerobar clamp sit straight on the basebar seat?

Many thanks.

Not me, I'm afraid. I think you need:

UCI base bar
UCI forks
UCI legal rear brake cover (if the faired one was fitted)
Seat post allowing 5cm saddle setback.

I know that most people needing UCI compliance here have ordered 9s from the off, which suggests either not all parts available or that it's not going to be cost effective

yes there was. only available now as part of a spacer stack kit 420552 which has 1x5mm, 2x10mm, and 1x25mm.

no issue with running the clamps slammed on the bar without spacers...only exception being some of the early Gen1 bars where the 5mm spacer is epoxied onto the bar straight from the factory. basically, if your bar doesn't have it epoxied on, you can run as low as you want.

small part of a big team on the 2014 bike...thanks on their behalf!

Thanks Carl, I think you're being overly modest.

Mine is early (my shop knows me too well and ordered it in my size colours on launch day!). So, is there a problem running no additional spacer with an integral spacer there?

Thanks again

correct...if it's an early bar with the permanent 5mm spacer you can run the clamps directly on top of that if you wish.

1st gen 7 series

Rear brake plate seems to catch the wedge on it's return, keeping the brakes engaged... plate is on the right way, just not enough clearance. Add some small spacers or file a little more room in the groove?
Also, cable needs to be cut flush with the bottom of the wedge for the cover to go on correctly, right?

Awfully sorry, completely misread your post.

It's easy to hide the control unit in the stem (which you may have already done). I've not come up with a way to hide the battery. It's unlikely to make much difference hiding it apart from aesthetics. If I was, I would probably make a fairing of some form like the one you can fit on the second generation.

One thing I have considered is filling in between the 2 mounting studs with filler and repainting.

no worries. yes, control unit is in the stem ok. Just the battery is the concern. Sounds like some may have converted to use the seatpost battery, but I'm not up for messing with that at the moment. So maybe some kind of homemade cover would be the thing to try.

I would either get CADing and then off to a 3d print bureau

Or

Find a dowel about the same diameter as the battery and fold some thin sheet material around that. E.g acrylic or hard polystyrene using a heat gun to make a U cross section. Then cut to fit over the battery assembly. This would be close to the fin on the second gen.

Anyone know the cost to upgrade the bar setup from a 7.0 to the 7.5 bars?

the 2016 paint jobs are on the website and I am loving the color on the 7.0

Hi Carl,
Is there a part number for the plastic caps that come with the SC that insert into the frame fittings (i.e. bottle cage holder).
Thanks in advance and apologies if this has been asked before.

Hey mate...
I looked into upgrading a 7.0 so priced up a new front end and it was between 1400-1600 australian dollars... So roughly 1200 US dollars I guess... The base bar is the expensive part and came in at 750 over here...
I ended up just ordering through project 1 as I also needed a different size stem and wanted a carbon seat post.... And it just seemed like too much work to get all the bits and pieces...
Good luck

I looked into converting a 2014 SC to be uci legal but was told by the australian distribute it was impossible to order the forks...
Carl also told me that it would be a challenge to get a set (to australia).
I ended up just ordering a uci legal 9 series through project 1.
Good luck mate

Carl could you tell me what the overall length of the long mono extension is and the length of the short mono extension? I'm not 100% sure which I have and kinda hope it's the short so I can get the long and achieve the length I'd like without having having to go to the plug in.
THANX!

The long one is approx. 375mm total length. The short is approx. 335mm.

From the tail to where the shifters go in. What do you get for that?

I was measuring wrong, I didn't think about the extra length the shifters added. I have the long version so I spose I'll need to get the plug in version :(

It's pretty great you're on here like this helping us all out!
