Without a picture (and better yet, having your bike in front of me in person) I'm not convinced that your stem is misaligned. I know that everything above it can be misaligned (and realigned) due to the clearance feature I mentioned before...which is why I suggest you try that first. It doesn't require complete reassembly...just loosen those three bolts a little, realign the bar, retighten.

Carl, thanks for all of the input that you have added to this forum. I was wondering if to your knowledge you know of any aero testing being done with a 2014 7.5 using both the Draft box 2 and without it? I am wondering if the bike is faster with or without it. If I am doing long course racing and don't necessarily need the box should I just keep it on there even if it is empty, or remove it. Thanks.

The 2014 7.5 is aerodynamically identical to the 2014 9-series bikes, so figure 31 in the 2014 SC white paper applies...no aero penalty.

Hello Carl,
Yesterday, while cleaning my 2010 Speed Concept 9.9, I've noticed this:

Looks like the paint is peeling of where the aluminum meets the carbon.
Should I worry about it?
Thanks

Bring it to your dealer for an evaluation. They'll decide what action needs to be taken from there.

Hi Carl,

Question - what is the cranklength on a 2014 Speed Concept 56cm medium? The standard Ultegra 11. I am trying to put in an order for some dura-ace ones (Stages) and don't know my own crank length. :(

Thank you sir!

Just asking... 56cm is a L isn't it? That's what mine is... I thought a M was 54? My L has 175 cranks on it stock.

Hi Carl

I had the Speed Concept Bottle Cage installed yesterday.
At home I noticed it wasn't installed as expected:

But is seems the extra rings are necessary to make the needed clearance.....?
What's wrong?

Thanks again!

when you've got the 5mm spacer installed under the pad wing, those rings provide clearance for the cage rail. looks correctly installed to me.

waiting for confirmation from the supply chain folks, but I don't expect the 2pack will come to market. listed a number of the issues which contributed to the delay in this post.

All right, thanks for the quick reply!

It just doesn't seem 'aerodynamic' ;-)
Btw, I now have a Stages PM, and that fits easily on the '14 SC (instead of the Pioneer)

Great weekend,

Carl,
Do you know from top of your head what's the Manufacture warranty on DI2 components? one of the pins on my junction box broke. I guess it's corroded or something like that. I was warming up for a TT and the one on the aero bar stopped working, the one in the bullhorn works. Is this something my LBS Trek dealer can find out?

No, I don't. Might find that on Shimano's website.

Hi guys,

My wife has a SC 7.0 which she really likes. My problem (and hers) is that I have a helluva time switching out the rear wheel. It's always getting caught on the speed fin when trying to take it out or put it back in. I basically have to hold the rear derailleur all the way back which is problematic since it's popped off a couple of times. Just had the hanger replaced at the shop and I'd like to avoid making this mistake again. Is there something simple I'm missing here? Does Trek make brake cover that would replace the speed fin?

thanks!

the UCI-legal brake cover (no fin) is PN w327327

it helps to put the bike in the small-small chainring/cassette combo to relieve most of the tension on the chain. I also try to remove with a rearward motion once the axle has cleared the hanger.

Thanks so much for the quick reply Carl! I will give that a go. Can that part be ordered directly from Trek or should I go through my LBS?

that's something your Trek dealer can order.

I recieved mine yesterday. My god, that thing is huge...
But if it saves me 50 grams of drag like advertised, I will use it.

It comes with 3 different wedges that will angle the 2-pack differently, depending on which saddle you are mounting it on.
I started with the smallest wedge, as it should be, according to the manual, the best fit with the RXL hilo saddle I am on.
But It "hangs" a bit with that wedge (picture in my post above), so I changed to the medium wedge and now it looks like this.
Much more in line with the saddle.
