As runless noticed, they are in fact long brake nuts. Any shop should have some. Just make sure it's the same length as the original.

yes it will fit it perfect, the brake width just has to be adjusted slightly as with any wider rim. I rode this wheel on my SC last month with absolutely no issues.

Looking into getting a Quarq S975 GXP power meter to replace my ultegra crank on my SC 9.5. I realize I need to change the bb bearing's from shimano to SRAM/GXP. Is it worth it to get ceramic or stick with steel? I'm not even sure what is on my bike currently. Can someone help me out. BB and all the compatibility is really confusing me.

Re: Official Speed Concept Owners Thread [stevej] [In reply to] Quote | Reply

if it was a stock 9.5 you're on steel bearings. I believe only the 9.9 ever came stock with ceramics.

GXP bearing kits for BB90 use exactly the same bearings as regular GXP BB kits...only they're "loose" instead of being prepackaged in cartridge-ish carriers. Slowman's primer is a good one.

I've got no strong feelings on the steel vs ceramic proposition, so I'll leave that alone. The PNs your Trek dealer will be looking for depending on which way you decide to go are:

for SRAM/GXP:

411814 for ceramics
404700 for steel

I am in the process of purchasing a 2011 Trek Speed Concept 7.0 on closeout and have read that the original seat post or binding on this bike tended to slip and Trek supplied a new or different seat binding that resolved this issue. I have looked around the Trek website but do not see recalls or notices about this issue. Does anyone know how can I tell if the seat binding has been updated on this bike or if it is the original one that may need to be changed.

Thanks,

Herb

Easy: the new wedge has a 7.2Nm max torque recommendation printed on it...the old one had 11Nm. It was included in a dealer service bulletin.

Whether it comes with the new one or you get a replacement for the old, 7.2 is a max...not a minimum...not a starting point...it's there IF you need it. Best practice for max torques is to sneak up on them. Start with 4Nm and see if you slip. Then 5Nm, etc.

Need more details... What was the difficulty, are they trying to install the external wiring harness instead of the internal, etc?

That should be pretty straightforward. I did my own Di2 wiring and I am not even a bike mechanic. The wires are all long enough to have sufficient slack to connect all of them first before pushing them back into the bottom bracket and covering up with the plastic cover.

might have been trying to send the wrong end through ... Skinny ends of the connections enter frame from the outermost points and meet at the BB. Anti-rattle zipties can make the entry at the rd exit a bit tight, but they will fit through.

ETA: fixed smartphone typos

Re: Official Speed Concept Owners Thread [MccrystalB] [In reply to] Quote | Reply

that's the internal wiring harness...bet he was trying to run the external?

if he doesn't already have it he'll also need the SC Di2 conversion kit PN 422802 which includes, in addition to the Di2-specific rear brake cover, our own short battery rail. the spacing on Shimano's short rail isn't quite right for the mounts on that brake cover. 1.5mm hex is all you need to remove the stock rail bolts and make the switch.

How long does the cable have to be??

ps. if anyone here has access or know anywhere this part could be instock please pm me. It seems shimano are out of stock and giving june delivery. I need someone that has it in stock now.

one length to the internal harness and it covers all five sizes of SC. if you can find one, you're good to go. I'd love to help with availability, but I can't see into our non-domestic warehouses.

I don't know if I'd call it daft, but certainly more difficult...cable length now does come into play as there are several options for various frame sizes. Also need to figure out how & where to attach the main junction at the BB.

I'm looking to finally buy a repair stand. I'd like to go with a no clamp version like the Park PRS-20.

http://www.parktool.com/...am-race-stand-prs-20

My SC is equipped with Di2 and it doesn't look like it will work well with that stand since the Di2 battery will be in the way in regard to where the BB is supposed to sit on the stand.

Anyone have any recommendations?

I'm having trouble interpreting the fit chart, and was looking for some help.

I think I need a large frame, but I'm not sure on the proper stem size.

Current measurements:
Arm pad stack - 67cm (maybe move to 68cm)
Arm pad reach - 46cm
Saddle height - 77.5cm

I am 6'1" tall (not that it matters)

Thanks you,
Jack

Looks to me like 60/45 with a couple cm of spacers.

Honestly, you're fairly tall/short for a SC but it's not a terrible fit.

Carl,

I need your help with a problem I am having with my SC0. The paint is starting to flake off the bottom of my fork near the dropout.

What can I do to stop that? Also where can I get some touch up paint that matches the color of the red used on the bike last year?

Thank you again for all you do for us owners or prospective owners!

Love, love, love the bike....now trying to find the right saddle is a different story. When Lance is done with is saddle can you have him ship it to me to try?

Runless nailed it. Large with 60/45, one notch forward of nominal on the pads.
