New Armrests
Hi everyone,

We just launched our KickStarter for new aerobar armrests. https://www.kickstarter.com/...rm-rests-by-velo-zep

They are much longer than any stock armrests, and the have higher sides and a taper on their length. So they really support your forearms much better, and practically lock your arms into the perfect position. It can be really nice because they can help prevent you from sliding forward on your saddle while you're riding.

This type of product is new for us, as we generally specialized in custom, handmade, high-performance track bikes like the one below.

Thanks for checking us out and support our new offering!

Hi MarkyV

I'm planning on drilling 2 sets of holes. The holes will be 25mm apart front-to-back (this seems to be standard on the Easton, Teschner, Zipp, HED, and 3T aerobars I've used), and 10mm apart left-to-right for width adjustment. Or, you can let me know if you need a different drilling option. And if you aren't sure, I can send them with no holes for the customer to drill themselves.

With the 10mm left-to-right adjustment this will allow for 3 possible widths if you also flip the left and right armrests.

Thanks,
Steven

Hi navybeaver,

We have pre-orders on our Kickstarter for $70. Much cheaper than carbon replacement armrests from Ritchey, PRO, 3T, or Profile Design.

I just backed them for a pair - looks very interesting, and a lot more comfortable than my stock setup!

Check in with TJ Tollakson. These look like just what he needs for his bar position. Though maybe he fabs his own now that Dimond is up and running.

What are the dimensions---length, width, height, and thickness?
Thanks

SummitAK,

Totally the same idea, but TJ's are way more extreme. I think he uses soccer shin guards, one underneath each arm and one behind each elbow to support his 'praying mantis' position.

I hit him up on Twitter the other day, we'll see if he notices.

Zuesrun,

Good questions, and I'll have to get back to you on the specifics soon.

Off the top of my head the length is around 12cm.

To give you a definitive answer on the 'height' and 'thickness' is a little more tricky, as the taper is both horizontal but also vertical, so the 'skinny end' is a few mm higher than the 'wide end'. Also, the recess for the bolt heads is totally dimensional on the 'inside' and the 'outside', so there might be a little more height/thickness/stack because of that, but only a few mm. If low stack height is your concern, they shouldn't be too different from any other low profile offering, as the taper makes the 'wide end' sit very low.

I'l try to come up with some accurate dimensions for you.

The padding I've used in the past is probably about 6-7mm thick (obviously that compresses under your weight), and I plan on using something similar for the 'production' units.

Thanks!
Steven

Have you gotten to use them yet? I missed the kickstarter but I am very interested. They are much cheaper than the fibrelyte or drag2zero carbon arm rests, but look to be very high quality and just what I am looking for.

I would love to say yes, but there has not been any communication from Steven on the status of the project, and I have not received the armrests yet.

To be fair, the delivery date is May, so nothing is late yet. I'd like an update (as would a few other people on the Kickstarter page), but there has been nothing in a while.

Cheers,
Sam

Oh sorry, I misread that. Well I am glad to hear he is busy. Looks like a cool shop. I am about to get a coffee maker from a kickstarter that is a year and a half late, if that makes you feel any better. ;-)

I think I read about that Kickstarter... Kinda infamous.

I'm not too worried, as another project from Steven seems to be on track w/ good updates and delivery to backers.
As I have a Shiv with the @!#!@# low stack fix, I'd love to get the new arm rests to make some adjustments to the reach on the bike.

Cheers,
Sam

Ok, got an update yesterday!

Looks like shipping will happen next week. I'll give an update once I get them and mount them up and go for a spin.
I'm not sure I'll use them in a race right out of the box, but will plan on some longer rides to test them out and get the fit/etc set.

Cheers,
Sam
