The Ultegra R8000 cassette 11-28 will only fit on an 11-speed freehub body.

The Ultegra R8000 cassette 11-34 will fit on a 10 or 11 speed freehub body.

Thanks, Jim and Toby. I didn't see it mounted, but the 11x28 definitely was recessed on the back.

All this made me wonder if switching between an 11x25 and either the 11x28 or 34 would require a rear derailleur adjustment. But I've only seen the 11x28...

The 11-34 would require a new rear derailleur and chain.

The 11-34 is called CS-HG800-11 and fits also 10spd hubs; other scales (11-25, 11-28...) are called CS-R8000 and DON'T fit 10spd hubs

There is this guy in Montreal who machine 11s cassette, a lot of my customer bring his modified cassette, i've installed it and it work like a charm.

you don't need to go all the way to montreal, any local machine shop will do it for about $30 .
