Needing Fuelbelt alternative
During long training runs I prefer to strap on a 4 bottle Fuelbelt and go. Unfortunately I'm on my second one in as many years (bought most recent one in January). Velcro doesn't stick. Yesterday one of the bottle holders broke where the plastic connects to the belt. Time for something new.

Any good alternatives you recommend? Preferably in the +28oz range with the ability to hold both water and sports drink separately.

I'm now into year 2 of using a Naked Running band and love it. I carry two 20oz bottles with me. One with water and the other with Tailwind. If you're used to the tiny bottles I suspect you could carry at least 6 of them at a time.

Amphipod - used them in the past. Bottles dropped frequently.

Nathan - love their handhelds. No belt options for 2 different containers (water / drink) that I saw.

Naked Running - interesting. May have to give it a shot. Not crazy about the pull up vs front closure but should eliminate my primary concern (front closure coming undone).

Another vote for the Naked belt. The Fuel Belt flasks also fit well in it, can just squeeze in two stacked in one (of the three) carrying compartments, and they stay put. My only potential reservation with the Naked belt is how dependent it is on its elastic properties, and therefore how long it'll last. But so far, so good.

I tried that on a recent long run, partly just of curiosity. I thought I was pissing blood after I finished, I had no idea urine could actually get that color.

I used to do 21 mile runs in 2.5 hours when it was 95 degrees with nothing.

Camelbak or other low profile running backpacks work great .The bladder & tubing work great for just water, but are hard to clean if you use sugary mixes like maltodextrin. I often put water in the bladder but if I need liquid calories, I'll just toss a water bottle filled with it into the pack as well; not so hard to pull it out, even on the run.

I've never had any of these backpacks chafe me while running (adjust the straps not too tight), and they work great even if you're doing an unsupported 3+hr run in the Santa Monica mts where there are zero water stops the entire way and full sun, so you have to carry the full 2L of water as well as extra in case something bad happens. My pack weighed 9 pounds on my most equipped run when I started and finished at 3.5!

I never like waistbelts because they always start rotating on me and the water bottles invariably end up somewhere where I don't want them instead of centered over my rear like I want.

I've honestly never had a single glitch with the backpacks. They are also great in that you can clip blinkies to them if you run in traffic, and carry backup stuff like more nutrition, phone, gloves, lightweight windbreaker, etc. which are surprisingly useful once you're doing 90+ min runs.

I've had my Nathan belt for 7 years. Original bottles stopped sealing. Tried reordering from Trisports and were out of stock for months. Called Nathan and they sent me 2 new ones (better design) free of charge.

I third this statement. I went through a number of fuel belts before making the switch. The Nathan belt is way higher quality.

In the belt category I'd recommend Nathan, they use buckles vs Velcro, and have a wide rage of sizes and storage combinations. My belt carries 20 Oz, for longer runs I also have an 18 Oz handheld, for even longer runs I have a 3L camelback (h2O).

I like Ultimate Direction kit on the whole. Either the Jurek Endure or maybe the TO3.0 pack sound like they'do cover your needs.

Agree. Fuel Belt went a weird way over the years. The velcro is horrible.

What Nathan do you have? I have one that I love (2-10oz bottles) but an older version that won't fit an iPhone 7 plus.

I ordered the 4 bottle and even without water in the bottles and the strap pulled as tight as possible, it was STILL LOOSE! Not by a lot but enough that if I put water in the bottles, it wouldn't work.

I'm thinking of getting THIS. Will I have the same issue?

Also, is the Speed Demon better? I just don't consider it because it holds a whopping 2oz less water. Said with slight sarcasm.

I had my first naked running band for over a year using it for almost every run to carry my phone, plus carrying bottles on long runs. Well over 1,000 miles. Elastic was as new when I replaced it and only replaced it because I once used it when traveling and had to pack it away with sweaty clothes and got delayed. By the time I was able to get it all out it was really stinky and I couldn't quite get it smelling right again.

I tried tons of belts and packs because I chafe easily and naked running band is by far my favorite.

x2 for Nathan products and support. Bottles just work. When the replaceable nozzle finally got uncleanably grungy and swollen to inhibit sealing, I tried to buy a new nozzle. They sent me my choice of a new bottle, free. Highly recommended.

Sylvius how is the sizing of the naked band. Shall i size down to take into account weight of stuff i am carrying or it is already taken into account?

Sizing is accurate, measure desired location of band carefully. No need to adjust for stretch, it's actually quite firm

Another vote for Naked Running Band. It just works and the bottles don't have that annoying bounce with every stride.
