Nausea, gagging, and throwing up when Racing / Training hard
Quote | Reply
Hi all. When I race, or train hard I get a ton of phlegm which inevitably gets stuck and accidentally stuck in my throat, swallowed, or whatever and I start the gag reflex. This never used to happen years ago, but in the past few years has become a real issue and is happening more and more. When I race, or train, I can't get the most out of myself because this always seems to hold me back. I've tried spitting more to the point where I am spitting every 5-10 seconds. Even when going hard, my heart and legs feel like they can go faster, but when the nausea sets in, I spend a lot of energy trying to keep it together so I don't vomit. Just about every track / speed workout or race I end up gagging or throwing up.

Any suggestions? Could this be allergies? Drink more? Anything out there known to lessen phlegm production? I don't have a lot of dairy anymore.

Thanks,
Chris
