Nashville Pools

Going to be in Nashville area for work. Which YMCA is recommended for the best pool facilities for lap swim and general training.
Is the "greenway" a recommended place to get in a long run?

Staying over near airport/Opry Mills, but wouldn't mind driving to Green Hills or Downtown. Lots of free time.

The downtown Y is really nice. 25 meter lanes. It has metered parking on the street ($1.25 for an hour) or you can park in the garage for $5. I go there at lunch for a swim sometimes and haven't had to split a lane yet.

I'd skip the downtown ymca. It tends to be overcrowded all the time. You could go to the Donelson-hermitage one. Its on the east side

The greenway is fine for running.

ETA: you could also go to the Anderson rd beach on Percy Priest and do an OWS. It's an open and safe area.

I would skip the YMCA and go to Centennial Sportsplex. Very nice pool and they have masters workouts.

The greenway is fine for running. I've run portions of a couple of races on it. Regarding the downtown Y: my only experience has been in the 12-1:30 time frame and, although there are a lot of people there, they aren't swimming. Like I said before, I've had my own lane up to this point.

I also swim at Centennial with a triathlon/masters group. The pool is fine but the locker rooms are a bit dated. If you swim at Centennial, you could also get a run in around the adjacent park and the Vanderbilt campus after your swim.

I have swum at the YMCAs there and the Sportsplex. Definitely chose the Sportsplex! It is one of the finest and fastest pools in the country with nice cool water. $7 for entry.

Ended up at the Maryland Farms YMCA. Awesome outside 50m pool with entire pool dedicated to lap lanes. Great facility!

JOOC, was it set up for long course (50m) or short course (25 yd)??? Obv the 25 yd set up nets a lot more lanes:)

The Brentwood Maryland farms pool is nice. Next time try the Williamson county rec center off concord rd., it is a nice big pool. The Anderson rd. Percy priest lake suggestion is a good one for open water swims. It is approximately 1/4 mile each lap of the outside buoys. The Anderson rd. area is $4/car for entrance. Mornings are usually best as the boats passing will toss you around.

I'll third this - it's a really nice pool and well worth the drive if you're out near Opry Mills.
