The Lake in Muncie was 56 last week and rising!

All good. We have seen it go from 52-69 on race week in prep for our May event...

Do yourself a favor. If you have not raced one of the races in Muncie and can make it DO IT. They put on a great race and are a great group of people.

Swim course is problematic at best. We have swam, raced and designed courses there well over 20 years. There is no getting away from the geography of the beach area. It is on the east side of the lake.The sun will always be in your face coming into shore without a cloud cover.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Yesterday we meet with the lake...first your all going to LOVE the new bath house...4 showers for each men and women..HOT water...tons of restroom facilities and HOT food, coffee at new concessions...

Swim course...still a work in progress. We wanted to move the exit down to the small beach 200 yards north...where the old races came out from 1994-2010 but the lake was not excited about it. This would have a left to right swim that would have sighting east under the tree canopy and hopefully reduce glare...but you have that 400 yard run up the hill.

We are still working on it!

Poor swimmer here but I shared the criticism with others for the May Olympic last year... the return swim leg the buoys were small and not frequent enough to stay on course... the out was fine... but sure beats the sunglare at Muncie 70.3 where you can't see anything coming in when going clockwise :) See you guys at the races

Great weather this year! Way better than last year for sure. As always, you guys put on a well run event. The distance on the swim was a tad off, but hey, it's the same for everyone. I did cry a bit to find out Pizza King was replaced. It's my guilty pleasure when in Muncie, we don't have them up in NWI.

But please, I'm begging, get another one of those big yellow buoys for the return leg of the swim. I couldn't see anything on the way back in, it was a total mess. I had similar problems last year, but this year was really bad. The two red buoys were very hard to see and when I could finally find them, they seemed way off course. Also, some sort of big sign of some kind over the exit that contrasts with the landscape. It wasn't until I got in really close could I make out the exit, it was blending into the background this year for some reason. Must be the new landscaping? Maybe them taking down that old building to the right made it harder? Who knows, but the way back in was much more difficult than need be.

On a personal note, anyway I could get you to send me my AG award or could I pick it up at Toughman? I wanted to stay for the awards since its the fist time I've placed in four years, but the kids had their first teeball game of the year and I didn't want to miss that.

Im possibly going to try out this venue this year. Have any suggestions for a Friday night stay for the June events? Also does the sprint and Oly race at the same time and share the same start time?

Yea, return leg of the swim was rough. Couldnt find the buoys when sighting and just hoped i was aiming for the right building (i wasnt at one point, but a very nice pontoon boat came and pointed me in the right direction)

I think it was last june, an ambulance was near the finish and had its lights on. Maybe something like that at the swim exit?

I really enjoyed the event on Saturday. Great race but agree with the others on sighting issues on the return leg.

Again; thanks for coming last weekend! What an awesome day. The Sprint Tri course record was broken by the top 3 men...wow.

Swim last leg...wish we had an answer. Glare is bad and ambulance couldn't get down to the water with all the construction.

More buoys? We have tried 6 and you still can not see them either.

We will put more creative juice in it and see what we can do.

I personally had no issue with the return leg of the swim. It is what it is.

Muncie June 7 is now just 1+ week away and we are down to 180 spots left. As part of the Retro Series, it is going to be a 70's and 80's party! Beer/Pizza and a disco ball!

Join us for some great racing on an outstanding course, new bath house is finally open and grind it out!

I'm signed up! Any idea with the water temperature is? Wetsuit legal?

So we now approach Muncie 70.3 this weekend and looking forward to watching friends race, welcoming old friends over for dinner before the race and NOT working! Might get a lawn chair and a cup of java and watch the start from across that lake.

Who is racing?
Who is going to set a PR?
Who is staying the night and bringing kids to Muncie ToughKids the next morning?
